Does my engine have a chance of living?

The PVC valve seems to be working. It rattles when I shake it and I can blow air through it fine.

    Distributor pull and replace questions

What is a dizzy base? I know what direction my distributor was facing if that's what you're asking, and I made a mark to what spot my rotor was facing. Are these 2 things what I need to know? Also a quick question. Is my distributor supposed to have any o-rings? I have a flat round gasket which...

Does my engine have a chance of living?

I don't have the money or the means to do this right now.

    Distributor pull and replace questions

Thanks. So as long as I insert the distributor and it lines up with my mark, and I didn't rotate my engine at all, I should be good?

84 Chevy 305 intake and carb swap

Hey, I just swapped my intake and carb on my stock Chevy 305 with an Edelbrock performer 2101 intake and Edelbrock 1406 600 CFM 4 barrel carb. I can't see spending $50 on an Edelbrock adapter for the throttle and transmission cable. Is there anything I can do to make my stock bracket work? I...

Does my engine have a chance of living?

I've attached a couple of photos of what I found while replacing my intake manifold. It seemed to be a bunch of carbonization especially around the heat crossovers. There's were loose 1 inch chunks of the stuff just sitting around along with the caked on pieces. In the last pic you can see...

    Distributor pull and replace questions

Hey, I'm replacing my intake manifold and had to pull my distributor. I watched a video that said if you're just pulling it and putting the exact same distributor back in I could rotate the engine until the rotor lined up with the firewall and make a mark where it sat. Then I could pull the...

I adjusted my secondary linkage and here are the results

http://imgur.com/gallery/Oxc1d89 I tried adjusting the little arm that activates my secondary flaps and here are the results. It seems much better now. I had somebody operate the gas pedal to WOT. Do you think I need to adjust it a little further?

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

No stupid questions. But, yes I checked for that. I can operate the secondaries by hand and they move freely. http://imgur.com/gallery/Oxc1d89 I adjusted the throttle linkage and it opens much better now. I may need to adjust it just a little more.

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

I removed that linkage that blocks the secondaries from opening until the choke is warmed up because a guy who makes videos for rebuilding quadrajets suggested to. I don't ever plan on flooring the gas pedal while the engine is cold anyways, so it won't be an issue.

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

I'm glad to hear that the transmission cable seems correct. It shifts fine so I guess it is. I will get my wife to mash the pedal tonight when she gets home. I jammed a piece of wood against the pedal last night so I could check the secondaries and they were only open about 1/16". I will redo...

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

As far as I can remember the choke opens properly. When they opened all the way the third time I had to really crank down hard on the throttle linkage. I'm thinking I need to bend the metal tabs to make it open earlier. When should they open? Should they be 90° at the same time as the primaries...

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

http://imgur.com/gallery/lQTjB6i Here's a short video of what it's doing. When you see the secondaries open all the way I'm really cranking on the throttle linkage or I'm just opening them by hand the second time. I know absolutely nothing about Holley's

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

I've been thinking all evening, I think I'm going to attempt to get my quadrajet going. I'm uploading a video to imgur so I can show what it's doing. I think the fingers that open the secondaries at the base of the carb are bent out of alignment. I'm going to try to bend them back into place and...

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

I'm out looking at my truck again and I might have found the issue with flooding out. If my secondary butterfly valves (the ones on the bottom of the carb) were just barely opening, like 1/16" of an inch with the gas pedal floored, would this cause my truck to flood? I can actuate them freely...

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

As far as I can tell the quad is completely original to the truck. I want to remove every vacuum line except for what the truck needs to run. I absolutely hate how crowded the engine bay is. I've already removed the non-functioning A.I.R. system and the EGR. I don't care if the truck runs like...

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

I just want my truck to run correctly. I'm sick of how it's been running. Every time I try to get somebody to take a look at it they just say to ditch the quadra-junk because it'll never run right. (obviously they're wrong because they ran from the factory.) So you're saying it won't run...

    Used Edelbrock 1406 carb

I'm thinking about purchasing a used Edelbrock 1406 for my 84 k10. Some of you may remember me asking questions about rebuilding my quadrajet a few months ago. Well I did the rebuild, and while I think I did everything right, I'm still not having a lot of luck with my truck running right. When I...

    Adjustment screws not working?

Hey, I'm the guy who's been posting questions about his 84 Chevy k10. Well, I finally got the carburetor rebuilt and most of my vacuum lines sorted out. I'm pretty confident I don't have any vacuum leaks now and I put almost everything back to factory. I do have a question though about...

84 k10 distributor delay valve missing

Would it hurt anything to run it to straight manifold vacuum? Do I need to hook it straight to one of the thermal vacuum switches on the manifold?

84 k10 distributor delay valve missing

Is there any way for me to bypass my distributor delay valve? I'll include a picture of my vacuum diagram. I'm hooking up all of my vacuum lines and I realized I'm missing my distributor delay valve. I couldn't get one at the auto parts store and when I found it on eBay it's $40+. It's supposed...

    Carb and vacuum line problems

I've made some progress on my truck. Not too much with the vacuum lines but I've got the carb tore apart and I'm working on cleaning it out. I finally found where I can buy that missing linkage for my secondary choke pull off to my secondary air flaps. It should be here some time this week and...

    Carb and vacuum line problems

Honestly, it's really just an asthetics thing at this point the tubes off of the exhaust manifold are obtrusive and ugly. I'm thinking about installing some plugs into the holes if I can even remove the tubes, they're pretty rusty. If they give me trouble I'll just leave them on there.

    Carb and vacuum line problems

What are you trying to say?? Do you think my canister is dirty? I've got a lot of work to do to this truck before I get it back on the road again. What's this transmission cable I keep hearing about people adjusting.

    Carb and vacuum line problems

I don't see one on mine. Maybe on mine it's the one that goes to the air cleaner. Where you have a hole I have another port and the vacuum diagram says it goes to the air cleaner.
