What have you done to your square lately??

Pb blaster is always on hand in my shop. I usually spray and let the parts soak at least overnight. You probably already know NOT to use standard box wrenches on bleeders and brake line fittings. It sucks when the fitting get rounded......and if destroyed double flaring the lines and replacing...

    LMC windshield weatherstripping

Lol....the warm gasket allows for more flexibility. In the great white North, infrared heaters may be just the right ticket to eas the install. Here in the land of sunshine and excessive heat...not so much of an issue. I have seen more than a few gaskets and locking beads shrink sort and allow...

    LMC windshield weatherstripping

Classic Industries, Tucker, LMC, Steel Rubber, are also some good suppliers. They are self locking or at least they have a locking strip that runs through the center of the moulding. The problem is that the windshield installers are : 1) Completely inexperienced at installing theses type...

    Installing tailgate band

I was apprehesive about using the 3m tape too.....but DAMN that stuff is sticky ! I have my cab mouldings attached with it and I doubt it will come off without a huge fight. I didnt want to drill any holes and liked the option of taking it off (although it will be a huge pita to do so).

Time to clean out my garage. Bunch of leftover parts.

I knew the second someone posted an ad regarding a center cosole, you would chime in...lol ...and that will never get old....lol

    Gas Tank Leak

That's not a bad idea, but the sock filter protects the fuel pump inlet from debris lodging inside. The fine particles that float in fuel will deteriorate the pump over time. No matter where you get fuel, I dont trust their filtration and never get fuel when I see a tanker refilling the...

    HVAC Vacuum setup

If installing the cruise control, you may want to also replace the switch located at the back of the brake pedal with the vacuum line attached as this deactivates cruise when the brake pedal is pressed. The compressor mounting brackets can be tough to source, but if you have a salvage yard close...

    Installing tailgate band

Or use 3m double sided moulding tape. I filled in all of the holes back when I did bodywork and used the tape instead. Grainger sells a roll of the high strength adhesive tape for $20. If you ever have to remove the trim moulding, you wont have holes to be concerned with. I also filled all of...

    How I hate electrical issues...

I concur. It blows my mind lmao. The p.o. of my square was the "retard" who used solid copper wiring, wire nuts and multiple connectors on a single circuit. As far as the mentioning of a fire extinguisher, that was also due to his "electrical genius" as well. I had a fire in the truck 2 weeks...

    How I hate electrical issues...

Household wire nuts need to stay in household wiring...PERIOD...thats what they are designed for...solid copper wiring. Get rid of all the wiring that has multiple connectors or splice connectors. The more connections the circuit has, the more chances of current loss. Wiring is sold by the...

    Gas Tank Leak

I have had to drop both of my tanks several times. I support the frame with jack stands high enough to clear the height of the tank and remove the brackets from the frame, not the straps from the tank. Even with the truck being bagged and the frame touching the ground under normal circumstances...

    Baking or buying wheels?

Have you considered powdercoating instead of plain paint? Powdercoating will definately outlast the paint.

    Well damn!!!!

I had just replaced the windshield in my square.....3 days later on the way back from having my bedliner sprayed in.....and POW !! a crack in my windshield. Oh yeah and of course the crack was in the lower passenger side and couldn't be fixed. My windshield has the antennae in it and since it...

    Riddler’s or Junkyards?

You shouldn't with that backspacing, but tires may rub at the top of the oem fenderwell due to the shape. It really depends on the amount of drop you have

Smog Pump and Egr valve delete

I removed the cats too...and went with long tube headers and dual flowmasters. The catalytic converters were partially clogged and pieces were rattling inside. In the trash they went.

Once all of my emissions crap was removed, I opted to keep the charcoal canister connected. It made things easier.

    Gas Tank Leak

A longtime friend of mine has his own fabricating and car shop. He once showed me a picture that he took of a truck that came into his shop in need of work. Someone actually sealed the top of their fuel tank with glue/epoxy instead of replacing the gasket for the fuel sending unit for the metal...

converting from column to B&M floor shifter

I currently have a B & M shifter in my 64 and I have no idea how it was installed on the turbo 350 transmission. I am subscribed to get educated on how it should be done since the p.o. installed it.

    Gas Tank Leak

I would also check the fuel tank where the mounting straps come in contact with it for hairline splits. My 78 squarebody developed a crack in the tank and I could smell gas fumes ever so often when the truck was parked.
