    Overheating? Bad temp sensor reading?

I just finished replacing the entire cooling system on my ‘77 K20 (radiator, hoses, thermostat, water pump, temp sensor) and after putting 2 and 3/4 gallons of coolant back in the system it consistently reads 1/2 on my temp gauge when idling. Before replacing everything it would sit at 1/4 and...

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

Well, it looks like it was a little bit of everything with this one, all because of a bunk rebuild kit. I put the old needle and seat back in and it stopped leaking from the acc. pump rod, but when I was trying to tune it I noticed fuel slowly leaking from the bottom-mid layer gasket. I’m just...

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

You’re a genius, thank you for laying it all out. Looks like it’s almost definitely my needle and seat then. I’ll switch my old ones back in tonight and update this thread with the results. Either way I think I’m gonna end up ordering a new kit to ensure the longevity and reliability of the carb

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

Thanks for the response, I guess I could put my old needle and seat back in tonight and see if that makes a difference. My logic was that fuel shouldn’t be able to flow past the acc. pump gasket regardless but your explanation makes sense

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

I already tried lowering the float level to the same exact result and I didn’t change anything externally that would’ve increased the fuel pressure since it ran last. Unless it could change internally by the metering rods or whatnot?

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

Yeah it’s instant, no throttle input and it’s already leaking. I also noticed if I simply pump the gas too much before starting it will leak without even running

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

That’s what I’m betting too, just wanted to get a second opinion before I spend money on a new kit. Thanks for the recommendations

Quadrajet Leaking Fuel From the Top of Accelerator Pump

I’ll start this thread off by saying I have minimal knowledge of carburetors, which is one of the main reasons I rebuilt my working carb to begin with; to fully understand them. Now, after rebuilding my quadrajet with a kit from O’reilly’s, it’s leaking fuel from the hole for the accelerator...

    Odometer Rolled Over?

Honestly I’d be really surprised if it has over 200k. The guy I bought it from said he got it in an estate sale from a farm that had a handful of other squares. Older gent used them as field trucks or for parts before he passed. By the visor calendar from ‘86 I’m guessing that was the last year...

    Odometer Rolled Over?

Thanks for the insight, I thought I heard something like that with other vehicles

    Odometer Rolled Over?

Bummer, that’s what I expected though. The only piece of info my truck came with is a visor calendar from ‘86, I’ll have to double check if there’s any mileage written on it. Seems like CarFax and all the other vin checking websites only work for 1981+ vins so that’s out of the question too.

    Odometer Rolled Over?

Is there any way to know for sure if the odometer has rolled over (and how many times?) Maybe an internal spring or gear? Not just by wear and tear on the truck. My ‘77 K20 spent most of its life on a farm so I don’t think it’d have too many miles, but the clock only says 9k. Now we all know...

I’m with you on that one, nothing else gives you that same satisfaction. Funny enough that’s actually almost exactly what I paid for my truck too, almost rust free, drove it on the trailer. Would’ve loved to see the chevy dealerships back in the day though

I wonder how many people here bought their trucks brand new… Heck they probably cost the same now as they did back then

Didn’t know there was another Big Chip when I signed up but honestly I’m not surprised. Seems like everyone already knows your name is slightly different so it shouldn’t cause any issues, right?

Hey guys, just wanna say I’m glad I found this site. As someone who was (and still is somewhat) into japanese cars, this is a whole nother world. I don’t think I’ve seen another modern forum as active as this one. Really looking forward to learning as much as possible from you guys! Here’s some...
