What size shielding gas tank to get for welding

When I worked in the maintenance field I asked our gas delivery guy if they always had them chained upright because they could haul more or what? (I thought they'd be more stable laid down.) He said regulations mandated they be transported upright in the event of a collision, it prevented the...

    Stainless cab visor SOLD

We have it here in Ohio but kinda like Coors years ago. When we couldn't get it, everybody wanted it. Then when we could, it was no big deal. Now Yuengling isn't a real big deal. Good beer but not something I'd make a special trip for. Does that make it better? :D

    Hydroboost help

I had the same issue and a mechanic told me the bore in the master cylinder was worn and piston would sometime stick, fluid would bypass piston and walla, no brakes. Then brakes would come back. Went through three rebuilt masters before saying the heck with that and purchased a new unit. Problem...

    Where to purchase filler hose?

Jeez, I get the same thing. House on road behind me has name that is AVERY similar. House there with same number. Used to be an older gentleman who lived there. He's get our mail all the time and we'd get his. He'd call and we'd send the kids over to get it and they'd run his over when his came...

    Radiator with twin fans

Be sure to check to see your timing is correct. Incorrect timing can cause over heating.

    Top end kit

Degree your cam when installing. Timing will be easy then. If you can do that swap you can set the timing w/o any trouble. Lots of info online about how to degree a camshaft. Sounds hard if you haven't done it before but easy once you research it.

I think it's time for a new carb..

I've had really good luck with National Carburetors but I had to call service/tech. They asked every question you could think of before rebuilding the carb such as engine, modifications, tranny, vehicle weight, etc. (Just another option.) The gentleman I talked to was named Eddie Obie. He even...

    1988 K5 Hardtop in EC

Need to find a hardtop in EC within six hour drive from Dayton, OH. Plan is to drive topless to pickup. Will need help to get top on since in a wheelchair. Existing top has luggage rack installed by PO who drilled all the way through top to bolt rack on and broken brackets on rear where "wing"...

    Help Me Settle This!

In my experience it's always cheaper to get a vehicle in good condition than to do a restoration. If you count your time as having value it's a no brainer to get one running, in good condition, from the start. Then you can start enjoying it right away as opposed to having so much time and money...

Is it bad to scrap parts versus selling?

There's very little on these trucks that someone won't buy. If your going to need parts later you may as well figure your going to have to do the swap eventually so why not just pay the extra $200 and have it delivered. You'll have all the parts you need to do whatever you want and can sell off...

Well forced to sell my k30

Hard to put a value on a truck without pictures. Kinda like trying to buy a vehicle sight unseen. Never going to get a decent bid without detailed pictures, IMHO.

Tech: How to Identify Original, GM Replacement, and Aftermarket Body Panels (Fenders, Hoods, Doors)

If you can't find OEM GM panels I've found, from talking to body shop guys, that they prefer Key Parts panels. The best price I've found is FixMyRust. They combine shipping on over sized parts also so you only pay once. At least they did when I purchased mine. Body men claim they fit the best...

    Power door lock issue

This is what was wrong with mine which had the same symptoms. The wires inside the boot wear through. PITA but from what I've found researching online it's fairly common in these older vehicles.

    Bowed bed panels

I don't think of that as normal....should be straight. Just think about putting a cap on the bed. Would GM be able to sell trucks that didn't match up to the caps to seal properly? Or trucks coming off the line with bowed panels? Can't see many happy customers faced with that.

Dash was cut for DIN radio

You may consider cutting the sides only and bending the metal back in case someone who buys the truck in the future wants to reinstall a factory type radio. You might even decide to go back to original especially if you decide to sell someday. Also, the are usually dash bezels already cut for...
