    Pinion Nut Tightening Question

Wow! I was really hoping for a simple "why didn't I think of that" fix. Guess I'll take it to the local diff shop pro and pay someone who knows what their doing. Thanks for the reply.

    Pinion Nut Tightening Question

I replaced the seal on my '88 K5 10-Bolt and, like an idiot, forgot to count the threads before removing the pinion nut. How do I get it back on to the right place without screwing up the pinion depth setting? Or am I screwed? ETA: Pinion Seal

    Gun vault dash.

Since you posted it, not dash but hole for fuel pump. Can you give the measurements for cutting that hole? Next time I need to replace a fuel pump I'd like to do that. Thanks.

    Whats your hand soap?

This might sound crazy but I used to scoop some axle grease out of the tub and rub all over my hands. It dissolved the dirty grease and grime. Wipe with shop towels to remove then wash with regular soap. Old farmers trick. It actually works just seems weird. Sliced my knuckle really bad once...

    Cleaning undercarriage

Plenty of videos on You Tube on this. Heat gun, cup style wire brush on drill, then goo gone spray gel, wipes old undercoating right off. At least that's what I've seen. Rust needs wire brush, drill to remove. Heavy rust...needle scaler.

Missing vin on k10 can they be swapped over from a parts truck with most of the parts?

Haha! My bad! I meant pliers, of course. Old age is a bummer. Wait...I just checked my post and I think I spelled it right. Am I wrong or what did I miss?

Missing vin on k10 can they be swapped over from a parts truck with most of the parts?

Not saying this will actually work but... My late father-in-law said you can insert a rivet "nail" from a like sized rivet with head outward, then, with needle nose pliers and reaching around to the back of the rivet, squish the backside of the rivet around the nail till it could be pulled out...

    How do I choose headers?

Whatever you decide, I'd recommend ceramic if available and within your budget. The heat generated by un-coated headers can lead to a myriad of problems. I know, we all got along with un-coated headers for decades but over the years they led to cooked wiring and starter problems. YMMV.

    Gun vault dash.

FWIW, there's a guy on CK5 parting out an '87 with blue interior that has all the parts you need and also the wiring. Looks to be in really good condition. Just a thought if your looking to use one of those boxes that mount behind the seat (over the wheel well type.) It's in the "General Parts...

    Gun vault dash.

Those switches in the door frame are for interior lights to come on when you open the door. If your windshield is in good condition then hooking up the windshield antenna is simple and, in my experience, works just as well as an external antenna. Using what you already have is the easiest way...

Starter with a mind of its own

Just remember every time your bendix makes that grinding sound it's also grinding the gears on your flex plate/flywheel. Cheaper to fix it right now than to fix the collateral damage later.

Talk me out of cutting my dash

X2! Never say Never! You say you'll never sell thee truck but life changes can happen. At least by doing it like Turbo4whl describes you can return it to original a WHOLE LOT easier.

Wind noise is running me stir crazy

Evidently he did, "now everything feel(s) thigh(t) and silent." I'm watching this thread intently since I experienced the same thing yesterday and today. First time I've had it up to highway speeds and about went crazy too! I bought my '88 K5 over a year ago, plan being for me and my son to...

    Plastic Battery hold down

I was looking for one of these and on the advice of the board members purchased one from NAPA. Later, while driving through a parking lot, I spotted one lying on the ground. I have to think it came off someone's truck or car and is most likely OE. There is no difference in the looks between...

    Aluminum wheel deoxidizer spray

YMMV=Your Mileage May Vary. Meaning you might have different opinions on this, or you might choose some other method. The cleaning part makes sense because you don't want to incorporate dirt into your polishing compound or your polishing clothes. The spray worked really well, for me, to remove...

    Aluminum wheel deoxidizer spray

I had a set that looked like those and here's what I recommend: 1) Scrub with a stiff plastic bristle brush along with soap and water, remove as much dirt and grit as possible; 2) Napa Aluminum Brightener spray, to remove surface oxidation; 3) Use 0000# steel wool to smooth surface without...

Proper way to fix sagging Headliner

If you want to just replace material plus fix your damaged headliner board, I recommend you go to "You Tube" and look at the video by Lucky Needle to learn how to repair board and install new headliner material. I'm doing this on my K5 and it's headliner board is damaged also. He will show how...

CUCV M1028 Part out Mint Body

When to you get to the point of cutting frame (if you do) I'd be interested in the front spring hangers if not rusted too bad. No hurry, only thinking ahead for a possible build in the future. Thanks, trukman1 ETA: I'm thinking the others are in line for the rears. Correct?

    Timing and Cooling Issues

My '67 had an over heating problem. I chased coolant parts till I was about to pull my hair out. Then had the idea of going old school. I advanced the timing till it stumbled, backed off till it ran smooth and locked'er down. Never had any more problems. Can't remember what the timing ended up...
