    What's in your toolbox?

Well, after a trip to the Goodwill Outlet store near me and getting four buckets of tools for about $2.00 a bucket, my toolboxes are so full I can barely open the drawers sooo....I'm happy!

What new tools have you got lately?

Went to Sears today for a new battery for my van. Received a coupon for $10 off tool purchase of $50 or more. Found a "slim" set of SAE/Metric ratchet wrenches on sale for $59.99. Applying for a Seears card got me another $10 off so out the door price was $49.99 (virtually the same as going to...

    Lifted K5 Top removal.

Try TopperEZlift or Harken Hoister. Just a thought.I'm sure you could hook-up a cheap HF winch to make it easy. Also, there are videos on You Tube showing homemade lifts.

Rust repair - order of replacement

I have to recommend Key Parts. My son researched American made parts and overwhelmingly people responded to get Key Parts. They are original gauge parts that the body shop guys said fit the best of all the aftermarket parts they put on. Shipping wasn't too hateful either. As i recall the...

Legs TOO short. Need side steps

Do they make those small steps that would bolt to the frame? Or would that have to be a home fab? Doesn't seem like they'd be too hard to make.

    Vortec Heads Question

I was on You Tube (I know, You Tube?! Really?) There is a guy called Myvintageiron7512 who said they quit buying used heads because so many had cracks in the exhaust chambers. He said you can buy superior bare aftermarket heads for around $350. For the life of me I can't find'em for that after...

    305 vs 350

I 2nd that! I had a '77 K20 with M465 (?) It wouldn't win a race against a one-legged chicken but it would pull like nobodies business. Only had about 20 lb. ft. of torque less than my buddies 454 at low RPM's. It was a torque monster! Heck, a lot of dump trucks used it too!

    Hello From Ohio

I've already started posting responses and didn't even introduce myself (I actually thought I did this first but my mind is slipping away.:() I recently purchased a 1988 K5 from Idaho. Previously owned a 1984 Jimmy and always missed that vehicle. Happened across this site almost by accident...

What new tools have you got lately?

I had to remove the fuse box on my 2007 Uplander today. Some time ago I purchased a set of ratcheting wrenches on a whim. Today those wrenches were worth their weight in gold when I took the fuse box off to access the battery. There were two screws in a very tight space. The ratcheting wrenches...

    K5 vs Truck Windshield Glass

I need to replace my front windshield but glass companies charge more for K5 windshield glass saying it takes a different windshield than a regular truck. This doesn't make sense to me. Is there actually true or just a way to get extra $ from me? Anyone know why they would charge more for a...

    buckets

I wish I could figure out how you guys know what seats (parts) fit our vehicles. Do you do an online search or just go around measuring seats? I'm old school "computer dummy" and it boggles my mind how you guys find this stuff. Congrats on your find and thanks for sharing. Looks awesome!

'88 K5 Bucket Seat Hinge Covers

Both mine are broken. Is there an aftermarket supplier anyone can recommend? The salvage yards around here are "deserts" when it comes to old square bodies. The RH has a handle on it to tilt it forward but the LH is basically cosmetic. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    K5 Bucket Seat Hinge Repair

The driver's side hinge on my '88 Blazer reclines all the way back but won't lock in any of the "upright" positions. The inside hinge is all that keeps it from falling backwards and I'm leery of driving it that way. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, can you tell me how you fixed it?
