    I'm at a loss..

If you are okay with spending a few dollars, Wilwood carries a Combination Proportioning Valve and Residual Pressure Valves that might solve your problem. Put the residual pressure valve on the line to the front discs to increase the speed at which they function. The combination proportioning...

1986 C10- Is it reliable enough for a daily driver?

Squares are going up in price everyday. I keep seeing that there is going to be a huge price correction in used and new vehicles. I think SB's have gone up partially because the cost of new and used vehicles have gone up. I am just across the border, in Canada, above North Dakota. People are...

1986 C10- Is it reliable enough for a daily driver?

I am slowly going back to vehicles with no electronics. I have 2 ford pickups (2009 V10 and 2007 6.0L diesel). I find my biggest problem is plastic and failed electrical components. The old square bodies are heaven for repair compared to newer items. The 6.0L needs the cab removed to change...

Anyone who doesnt have a service manual read this.

I have always liked the Chilton manuals better than the Haynes as I find them more detailed and better quality. Within this website there are links / downloads of all parts manuals, service manuals, wiring schematics, etc They have them for all years. A website I have used extensively is...

    6.5 turbo swap

I have a 6.5turbo in a truck I bought brand new so I know what I am getting. I am putting it in a 73 crewcab dually because I sold the 454 out of it. I found really good advice on www.dieselplace.com. Once you make inspections and repairs based on their comments, I think most of the problems...

    Bending Hood

You could consider graphite spray. It is considered a dry lubricant. It will turn whatever you spray black but it dries instantly and works great for a long time without attracting dust. If you spray the pins in your hood hinge it will significantly reduce the force needed to close the hood...

    Seats

A regular cab is still a squarebody including 1987 (R10/V10). The crewcabs and suburbans went until 1991.

    Seats

Look into rivet nuts. You can drill the hole and rivet the nut flush inside the cab. You have to be careful to purchase the rivet nut so it has a crimp range for the thickness of steel of the cab floor. I put rivet nuts in whenever I can.

    Seats

The way I did the swap without modifying anything was I made a template from 1/4 inch plywood and some 1 by 4 boards. I used the old bench seat rails and the new seat with the newer rails totally removed. I cut the plywood and mounted it to both seats being careful to cut the plywood exactly...

    I AM STUMPED!

Look close at the parts and see if you can see the stamped number. That number will correspond with the parts illustration manuals. I did this with pulleys. 6. 7.112 REINFORCEMENT , RR SPR RR HNGR (K/V1-2) ............................................ 6270214

Fuel Tank Replacement Seals / Rubber Parts

I went to a belt and hose store and bought bulk rubber to cut to the length and width that I wanted. Then I glued it on with rubber cement. Then I found out my rubber was too thick but I wanted it to last forever. So I used bolts and hex coupling nuts to span the difference. I was making...

    Dash Pad Covers

The truck I bought had a cover which had really nice paint on it but then they just glued it to the old dash without preparing the dash in any way. It took a nice cover and made it look bad. I took it off so I could start preparing the dash like an autobody repair shop would and then I will...

    Help ID

Looks like the mess that I had. 350s 1979 and earlier had a short driver side dip stick that if the inside sleeve piece is missing can leak. The small tube that inserts into the block leaks at the insertion point. I used a small o-ring and RTV to plug the leak. When I rebuild my motor I will...

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

Look at the photo on my Dec 19 post. There is a rubber plug with the orange and white wire going through the cab. Need the guage cluster out to access properly.

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

Good thing about an old chevy pickup is you can fix it however you want. There are so many different tools and parts you can do whatever makes you happy because you have a metal base to work with. New cars are too much plastic that has one time use tabs that break if you just look at them the...

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

Totally agree. The threaded part on my door was barely 1.5 revolutions. That is why I had to use rivet nuts to add many more threads for a more positive connection. As well the threaded part was a little inset so I avoided that problem. Chevy cheaped out on this. I thought there would be at...

or use a die and cut the threads all the way to the nut making sure the switch will still be pushed by the door.

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

If you do not want to install a rivet nut then you need to build up and te-thread. Weld or use epoxy then drill and rethread. Weld in a nut that is same threads as switch.

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

Chevy voodoo magic? Take the rubber off and squeeze it with your fingers and you will see how it functions. If you worried about how much space you have, put a chunk of plumbers putty where the switch goes and close the door. Open the door and see the thickness of the putty. That is how much...

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

I think what he means is they are the same like mine. Frozen closed with a missing rubber piece. The switch is electrically open, against a spring, when the door is closed. Open the door, the spring returns the switch to closed and power flows through the light to ground. This circuit has 3...

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

I bought my switches at an auto electric store. My cab is an 87 so the switches you show are the same as I used. My holes were stripped out so I installed rivet nuts first. Special order item. Then I pulled out the plug for the wiring and fished through the switch wiring so I could...

Dome light door switches. How to change without twisting wire?

Mine were stripped out and the switches were frozen. I bought new switches and then found the proper rivet nuts for the threads on the switches. I believe they were metric. Drilled out the holes and installed the rivet nuts. Made long wire leads so when the switches were in place, I then...

    1978 Vent window whistle noise!

I made a solution that needs some refinement but the premise worked well. I made this not to cut the whistle but to get my truck inspected and receive plates. I bought the truck with shaved mirrors which would not pass inspection to receive plates. These are RAM product motor cycle mirrors...
