Stalls when pressing gas too fast

So i got to thinking. I went out to look at my carb and was wondering if it's possible to remove the air horn without taking the carb off the car. I might just be able to replace the accelerator pump and be done. I inspected the carb more and it does look fairly clean on the outside. It would be...

    Favorite Jack Stands?

Do your HF 6 Tons fall down if you wiggle them? On my pair if you wiggle them, the locking arm starts to go back up and the teeth break free and the whole thing falls. I don't think it's supposed to do this. I tried wiggling a display model in the store and it didnt do that.

    Favorite Jack Stands?

I actually watched a video comparing that earthquake to a snap-on and its the same/better in every aspect. I can't speak for reliability, but I guess if you need a job done...

    Favorite Jack Stands?

So I bought a pair of 6 ton pittsburgh jack stands a while ago for my square, and I am considering returning them for a better brand 3 ton pair. Mine seem to have a defect where if you lock the raising bit, and wiggle it, the teeth come loose and the whole thing falls. I don't trust that to hold...

Proper way to fix sagging Headliner

Now once I do get the backer board off, can I reuse the old fabric? I don't know if there is a way to clean the foam off the vinyl or not, but if there is, the Vinyl looks nearly brand new. Also what is a good way to clean off that foam backing board? I found a few videos saying to use steel...

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

What are the odds? I just found a free quadrajet listed on craigslist. It's in a hell of a state, but If i rebuild that one I've got nothing to lose. If I successfully rebuild it, I can just plop it onto my truck and possibly rebuild the other one too. I might be able to sell one of them for a...

Proper way to fix sagging Headliner

Anyone have any ideas how to remove it safely? Is it stuck on with adhesion or is it just held up by the trim pieces? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Proper way to fix sagging Headliner

Here's a picture of my backing board. Does it look to be in decent shape? It's not cracked or anything. The vinyl however does seem to have some foam residue left over on the back and some of the glue. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

How can I make sure I get the right quadrajet? Is it mainly just looking for the same/similar year and same throttle linkage?

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Well I don't know much about that speed demon. It must be rebuilt or something because hes got it for sale at the counter for 300$. The yard typically charges 38 bucks for carbs off cars in the yard if you pull it yourself. I have no idea if a holley speed demon would work with my engine or not...

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

I called up the junkyard and they have a presumably used holley speed demon for 300 bucks. That's about as much as a rebuild. I called up a pretty good local carb shop and it was 285. I don't know, would that be something to consider? If not, new edelbrocks are about 300 new. Also they did...

Anyone have Cliffs High performance q-jet book?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to rebuild my q-jet. I have no experience other than watching some videos. I wanted to get cliffs book on the q-jet, but it would be nice to save almost 30 bucks. Does anyone have the book that could scan me it and send a pdf? Or maybe just the part covering the rebuild...

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Could someone check this series out and let me know if it's a decent representation of what I'll need to do? I figure this video and that book should be a good resource right? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

That would be pretty awesome! Wish I knew someone who was closer to me I could do this with.

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Well its an option, but I have to accelerate extremely slow at lights for it to not stall. Not only can this be dangerous, but I could still stall at any time because my accelerator pump is shot and I could end up in an accident, ruining my beautiful new 78 C20.

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Hopefully I'll be in a similar situation as you and only need to replace the Pump. That will likely be a bit easier than rebuilding the whole thing. Chances are if I looked the rest over it would all be fairly good since he rebuilt it recently. The gaskets definitely look new. But I might give...

    Fuel gauge stuck on full

I looked at my bulkhead like you said and I've noticed these crappy looking wires from the start but maybe they are related to my gauge? Would any of these wires have anything to do with it? I didn't see a pink one but maybe it's just because they are covered with dust. I looked underneath the...

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

I haven't done the fuel pressure test, but I had a friend come and take a look. He reckons it's my accelerator pump. He had a look inside the carb while it was running and pumped the throttle and didn't see the accelerator pump spray. Tried the same while it was turned off. So I have a feeling...

    "Proper Starting procedure" for Squarebody

Absolutely! I was doing the same thing, and when I tried the one pump it started just as easily, if not easier. I'm glad I asked this question too! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
