Why do you recommend getting a whole new system? I am on a pretty low budget so I was hoping I could just replace the clutch and then charge it and be good.

So I'm about to embark on a control arm rebuild and need a jack and some good jack stands. I went to advance and was recommended a teq correct jack and stand set for 50 bucks. It is a 2 ton. My truck is a 78 C20 3/4 ton with the 8200 gvwr package. Is this jack and stand set good enough for...
Well the main thing I'm worried about is if I have to leave it apart for more than a few days. I have nowhere to leave it. My HOA won't let me work on it in the street meaning I need to do it in the garage. But this means if it takes more than a day I have nowhere to leave it.

I mean am I crazy to try replacing bushings and ball joints only, or should I just buy all new duralast control arms? I thought by doing the shaft and ball joints, it would be cheaper and save more oem parts rather than replacing with a cheaper quality part, so is that a decent idea or should I...
Well I'm not entirely sure how much I'll drive it yet, but I figure if I buy a cheap part now, and it fails later on down the road I most likely will have more money and can go for the good stuff. I also wanted to ask if there are any good resources explaining how to replace control arms on my...
Do you think its a bad idea to go with cheap parts if I get a lifetime warranty? I'm on a tight budget and its my first car so I understand its better to suck it up and buy more quality parts, but will the autozone or advance parts do for now? The warranty guarantees I get at least one free...
Yeah I think I'm gonna go with autozone shaft kits and advance Auto parts ball joints. That's the cheapest way to go and I get a lifetime warranty. I was debating going with Moog stuff but it's my first car and I'm on a tight budget. Moog shafts and ball joints are 464 and I what I decided on is...
Thanks for finding those for me I appreciate it. Is there a place I can buy just the bushings though? The shaft is almost as much as a whole new arm.

So I just bought my first truck. It's a 78 C20 Camper special. The AC compressor clutch is bad though. I wanted to know how I go about fixing it, and then how I can make it use r134a refrigerant. Thanks.

I put it in and it says it won't fit my vehicle. Do the control arms even have bushings? Heres the lmc truck part catalog. Part #6 is the right shaft assembly and doesnt look like it has bushings. Unless they dont sell them separately. Maybe they come inside the control arm but they should sell...
I've been searching all the auto parts store and put in my truck and nothing comes up when I search for control arm bushings

Hi everyone. So I have a 78 C20 and there is a pretty ugly black carpet dahsmat glued down to the dash. The dash underneath is cracked on the driver's side but that's about it. How do I take the carpet off and remove the glue without ruining my dash more?

Is it a good idea to run the truck out of gas before I do anything? Here's a pic of the rotted hose. But you can see the stains where the gas flows out.

Hi guys! I've got a pretty severe leak from the filler hose of my fuel tank. It is only an issue as far as I know when I fill it. I haven't filled it past 1/2 tank yet though. It only leaks from that spot where the pipe meets the tank so is it just a gasket or something? Is the pipe/hose welded...
Is it even possible to replace just the bushings on this type of upper control arm? Heres a picture of what a new one looks like. I wasn't able to find any control arm bushings online at all when I searched it. The design of this control arm is pretty odd so are they not replaceable?
Now as far as the procedure goes, do you know of any good videos that explain the process for this sort of truck/suspension design?

Right now I need two major repairs done before I can drive my truck again as a daily. The gas tank filler hose is leaking on both tanks, and my front control arms and bushings are bad and need rebuilt. The shop wants 522 for upper and 733 for lower control arm rebuild. I really trust this shop...
