At the moment where I'm at with the rebuild is the dash and steering column .. Used a dashboard from a R-190 over the road truck cause it didn't have a cutout for the three on the tree Oem column .. Did a body swap .. Had a 75 GMC K15 that the body was pretty rusty, running gear was in great shape .. I'll take some .. Got to warn you, I'm not fond of laying on my back and doing overhead welds .. Even suited up still get burns on my body .. :shocked: (When that happens there's a few words that inadvertently are said that would make a Preacher blush) There's about 8 welds on the top...- dragstews

The plates fit really well on my 75 K15 frame .. Clamps was used and very little hammer action was needed .. Being only 1/8" thick they pretty much form fitted themselfs ..- dragstews

Soon to have the box back on the frame rail .. Since the frame didn't have any cracks to start off with and the install of the weld-in plates, plus the bolt-in brace should be ready for some 44's ... (Think I'll keep the 33's on the truck) ..- dragstews

Took the rear driveshaft to have shorten today .. Be a few days before it's done .. I'm about to take the column apart to see if I can get low gear working .. Got some wires to feed down the tube .. Installing cruise control .. Just about done with the steering box .. Waiting for the u-joint...- dragstews

Did give this some thought ... Very well made and easy to install but ... On the 75 K15 the brake-proportion valve is mounted right in the way of where the brace bolts on .. Pretty much decided not to use it due to the need to relocate the valve .. (Guess I'm going to limit the truck to...- dragstews

My frame was in good shape, went ahead and bought the plates just to keep it that way .. Guess it's overkill, but is a good place to add some beef ... 73-91 Chevy/GMC trucks was bad about cracking in this area .. (Most likely from rough usage)- dragstews

Identifying GM Transfer Cases: Show us in pictures what you have with measurments and Adapters.
I went though it with replacing the bearings, chain and converting to part time using a Mile Marker SS output shaft not long ago .. The truck doesn't see very much 4x4 usage these days .. Mostly only street use ... About the spacer that I was going to use on the 4L80 to the og K15...- dragstews

Much thanks ... There is good news bout cutting in the slot .. Did get second gear to work .. Seeing low gear working is going to be a PITA, no bout a doubt it ! I just may blow off having a manual first gear due to the amount of work that will certainly be involved .. Let "Auto" do his job...- dragstews

Good grief !! Well, it looks like I'm in for some more work !! Using a column shift that was made for a TH400 ain't working out so well on the 4L80E trans .. Moved the pivot on the frame to a new location .. That worked out pretty dang well .. Modified the rod going from the trans to the...- dragstews

Transfer case support brace. Who got one to sell?
Might go that route .. ?? Going to slot the column first and see if that will net enough throw .. If I do change the length of the arm, I'm thinking it could mess with the Oem switches on the column .. ?? Hope to get around to working on the slot today ..- dragstews

Transfer case support brace. Who got one to sell?
I cut it down to fit, came from a 75 Cadillac Coupe Deville .. Worked fine with the TH400 .. But now there's a new ballgame in town .. Could cut a deeper gate, but that means taking the column out and apart .. !! (Been there done that) Think I'll just drop it in D for do it and let auto do...- dragstews
