experience with gear vendors over/underdrive anyone?

I considered a ZF S6-650 before doing my NV4500. That bitch is TALL, which is why I tossed the idea. My LS swap mounts set the engine higher as is, so there was no way I'd be able to fit it without hacking the firewall and floor. It might fit in a truck with stock engine position; a small body...

What have you done to your square lately??

Let's see... Tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and tweaked my tune to work right with my NV4500! DBW throttles kind of SUCK. First it was hanging the revs between shifts. Fixed it, but resulted in bucking and surging at low speeds (like I had a big cam or something)...

    11" or 13" drums?

I think you are on the right track. My 88' has the 13" drums, and they are identical to your second picture. Relative to the size of the hub, I'd say that makes the top picture 11" drums.

    TBI Conversion Fuel Tank Options

They will, but not recommended, since you won't have baffles to prevent fuel starvation when low on fuel and braking and/or cornering.

    What’s this Connector

It's on the cruise control switch, but it's used for TCC shutdown when on the brakes, isn't it? Or maybe I'm just confusing myself, since that's what I'm using it for on my LS swap.

    Air Compressor Time

I've been extremely happy with my 5HP Quincy. Even while sandblasting, which is basically a giant air leak, it will cycle the compressor off because it stills builds up pressure. I haven't found anything it can't run yet. Wide open die grinder, impact, painting, sandblaster, it's handled it all...

MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

Completely opinion based, so expect a lot of varying answers. For example, smooth hated his Magnaflows, but I love them on everything I've put them on. Very mellow and quiet when cruising around, but loud when you romp on it. Flowmasters always sounded tinny and "underwater" to me. Never liked...

    Looking for a new dash

Everyone I've talked to who has used one has been quite happy with it. In my opinion, it's the best repro out there.

    K10 non removable tunnel

A local parts place offers remans, so I picked it up. They pop up on craigslist now and then, but tend to be pricey. Your best bet is honestly to pull one yourself if you can. Bring a friend though, they aren't light!

    K10 non removable tunnel

For this: I still have to trim it some more to mate up nicely with the bolt in hump I have. This was just a rough cut to get the trans installed so I could measure for a driveshaft.

    K10 non removable tunnel

My truck is a 2WD, so I'll be avoiding body lifts like the plague. Besides, I already started cutting, lol! A very basic, rough cut just to get started, but still...it's a hole and all, hah.

14 bolt 10.5" rear disc conversion

Yeah, it's definitely not cheap, but it's the best option (in my useless opinion :P ), short of finding a late model axle, but then you get into modifying the spring pads and shock mounts and etc.

    K10 non removable tunnel

x2. I'm about to cut the perfectly rust free floor out of my 88' and modify a 78' bolt in hump to work, for my NV4500 swap. My life would be much easier if I could just bolt it in...le sigh.

    Double Dingo's 1965 3/4 Ton "Crusty Biscuit"

You're getting me all nostalgic. My Dad's 78' had an aluminum shell with bubble windows front and back, with the crank out windows in the middle. The bed was complete with wooden storage bins and a carpet kit, haha.

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks man! I feel your pain, I can't believe the number of old parts I tossed or sold, thinking I wouldn't need them or want them. I never should have gotten rid of a single one!

    Cab rebuild

Yeah, my Dad's 88' K1500 always had super mushy brakes. Never could get them to have a decent pedal.

No start, no click, no nothing

Here is a wiring diagram I colorized for the starting/power distribution circuit. Technically for an 88' R/V truck, but 87' should be the same. It only shows a NSS for the manual trans trucks. Gotta love GM's inconsistency. Troubleshooting diagram mentions one, wiring diagram doesn't, we seem to...

No start, no click, no nothing

Based on the wire colors in the chart (purple for auto, yellow for manual), it sounds like the "engine control switch" is just an obscure name for the ignition switch. Also sounds like it's at least worth checking if your truck does have the starter wiring going through the NSS, just in case...

No start, no click, no nothing

The green and blue are reverse lights, black/white and orange are the P/N signal for the PCM (for idle control, I think). I tested my column just now, and it won't let me turn the key to the start position when in R, D, 2, or 1. I think the only reason it lets me start it in OD is because I'm...
