What have you done to your square lately??

I have it in the garage - not planning on tossing it. You need one? It's a 1.5 DIN from my 90 suburban.

    PNW Square Buddy

Great intro. Not too far away, just relocated to north Idaho (Coeur D'Alene) from the socialist republic of Oregon, we were just across the river from Longview. Oregon is very kind to old trucks, only rusty one I had there came from 30 years on the beach.

What have you done to your square lately??

This is an interesting thread to read through. What have I done? In the month I've had it it's mostly been cleaning and assessing, though this weekend I did take my daughter to the wrecking yard and we grabbed a seat belt buckle and power window switch for the driver door - existing one had...

    Dash speaker fit issue

I haven't finished cleaning the dash yet, I think I'll try this before I reinstall it. Mine is toast anyway but no sense in making it worse than it is by having the speakers bulge. Thanks for sharing this.

    Dash speaker fit issue

Messed around with this a bit more this morning after taking a picture of the problem (attached). I was able to bend the tabs on the speaker more towards the magnet and rotate it so it faces the gauge cluster. Just enough clearance and now it's not resting on the sheet metal and A-pillar trim...

    Dash speaker fit issue

There seems to be interference beyond just the terminals, I'll see if I can add a photo later. Almost feels like the side of the basket is too big.

    Dash speaker fit issue

Yes, I just removed the terminals from the connector housing.

    Dash speaker fit issue

Thanks for the reply, but the speaker in the picture is a 4x10? I'm working on the 3.5s in the dash. I'll keep these in mind for the rear speakers though. I rarely have the radio on but it'll be nice to have it when needed.

    Dash speaker fit issue

I'm replacing the factory speakers, nothing special, just Metra 3.5" 'stock replacement' units from wallyworld. Having trouble with the driver side: these only have two tabs and mounting them with the wiring towards the windshield ends up with the terminals shorting on the dash, but rotating...

Odd driveshaft vibration comes and goes

I've experienced u-joints that were bad out of the box, but usually bad joints will be a problem at 50mph, rather than all the way up. Carrier bearing is worth checking into.

LMC exhaust for '90 4x4 Suburban?

I'm looking at getting one of thebolt-on exhaust kits from LMC but they don't show any for 87-91 4x4 Suburbans, only for 2 wheel drive. Anyone have any experience trying these kits on later 4wd models?

    Another obligatory intro

Not a lot of poking, it's monsoon season here, but the worst spot, in one of the rockers, I can see into the rocker and it's really clean inside, so I would agree, pretty clean overall. Plus the paint code color is pretty much available anywhere so I'll be able to patch it up here and there...

TBI 350 bracket below A/C compressor empty?

I know this post is a bit older, I just bought a truck that is also missing the smog pump, from what I can see there aren't any hoses or anything hanging loose, no obvious signs that it was there and removed. My suburban is a '90 originally bought in CA so this leaves me wondering if it was...

    Another obligatory intro

Thanks for the feedback, I've normally only dealt with trucks from dry climates, being up here and seeing 10 year old trucks with rotten fenders is a new thing. From what I can tell what rot I'm seeing is outside in, will have to post some pics. Worst areas are rear rockers and upper corners of...

From what I can tell from doing some car-cheology it was in socal until '05.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! In regards to the driveshaft - I believe the grease had congealed, but 50 miles of <50mph seems to have brought things around. Attaching the only photo of the whole truck I have on my phone. More to follow soon.

    Another obligatory intro

Not new to squarebodies (this is #5) but thought it would be helpful to join a forum. Most recent purchase has some odd options, including quad shocks, aux cargo bay heater and posi rear. Pretty much stock, was sitting in a field in Montana for 6 years or so, put a battery in and drove it back...
