    Body control module type question

I've been doing reading and research the last few weeks to try and find out if there's an option for a programmable body control module, either DIY or off the shelf. Everything that comes up is android auto or similar, which isn't what I'm looking for. I've seen other single function modules...

Etch primer and sun baked 'surface rust'

Thanks for the reply! I am going to rattle can over it. It'll look goofy as I'm going to put black over it but, at this point, I have to do bits and pieces as I have time and money so at least each patch will be protected until I can afford to have the whole thing done.

Etch primer and sun baked 'surface rust'

Planning on starting to clean up my roof - lots of bald spots with sun baked surface rust. I have some self-etching primer and am wondering if it's the right product, seeing as there is still paint around the bald spots, and, if it is, how far should it be prepped? Does the bald spot need to be...

What did you pay for a square

I've been incredibly lucky with the squares I've had. First one was a 78 Blazer I got in trade for some work on a 50 Plymouth, 4 speed truck but a basket case. Second one was an 84 Suburban Silverado, red with a silver stripe, not a speck of rust on it. Needed a driver's window and brakes when I...

What have you done to your square lately??

I remember the first time I did this. Didn't know any better so tried holding the glass with pliers. Then vacuumed the window out of the door and tried again after a trip to the wrecking yard! I find it easier to pull the vent window and glass when doing stuff with the regulator/motor. It's a...

I want to drive an '89 suburban 700 miles home, what should I know?

Not sure if this trip happened yet. I bought my '90 sight unseen 300 miles away in Montana, hadn't been driven in years, tires were new in '07. Drove out, put a battery and some fresh wipers and drove back. Didn't need half of what little I bought along. Same story with my first one 15 years...

What have you done to your square lately??

Haven't posted anything in a while, spent some time doing the fun job of replacing driver door hinges, strike and a bunch of other little stuff, including replacing all the instrument bulbs and removing all the 1990s security system wiring. Also replaced the drag link but the steering box is a...

Rear captains seats in 90 Suburban

Done as much reading as I can. Thinking on captains chairs for my second row. I read that the floorpans for suburban conversions that had these are different, not able to confirm. Does anyone have info on doing this?

What have you done to your square lately??

Haven't posted anything on my Suburban in ages. Got a few things done, registration and such - nice thing about Idaho is that 2 year registration with personalized plates is about the same as 1 yr in west coast states and no emissions test either. Got a few small things addressed like wipers...

What have you done to your square lately??

Finally got around to registering the war wagon this week after a new fuel filter and making sure the 15 year old tires were properly inflated. It's on 31s so did the math and came up with 45psi. Front left was at 20. Now it's road legal and already finding bits and pieces - missing when warm...

What have you done to your square lately??

I have to change the breather side on mine, the hard molded pipe broke and half of it is in there, no-one makes the pipe so time for engineering.

What have you done to your square lately??

Spent some time wiring in new pigtails for the fuel injectors yesterday, old ones were close to becoming a fuel additive. Fortunately I own a wire harness shop so at least one part of the wiring looks nice. The only part of the original split loom in most places is where the ends were taped...

What have you done to your square lately??

Did some small things this weekend as most of the time was spent on the Mrs daily, changing struts and sway bar links for the third time this year (Yes, it's a Ford, but my fault for buying the wrong parts). Managed to get the rear view mirror and new high beams installed on the 'burb. Had to...

What have you done to your square lately??

Thought I had posted an update last week but guess not. Took the 'burb to have a 3" straight pipe installed. It'll do until I decide what to do with the L05 lump. It runs fine so suspect it's had some work during the 190000 miles on the odometer, but want to check the cylinders and compression...

What have you done to your square lately??

Been tinkering away on the '90 here and there - replaced evaporator core after investigating the AC - was able to jump the clutch and it sounded fine so decided to try and charge the system. As soon as I shut it off I could hear hissing from the air box (Not the kind you sometimes hear inside...

    Rear aux heater valve

Looking into sourcing a replacement aux heat valve for the 90 Suburban and see that they're discontinued, anyone have any leads or tips on these? Don't think mine is bad but it's pretty corroded.

Aftermarket digital options for dash + controls

My daily driver is a later model explorer with all the bells and whistles. I'm wondering if there's anything close to the Sync system it uses that's available as a standalone system. I know there are options for the dash itself and plenty of radio options but does anyone make anything that...

What have you done to your square lately??

Spent time Friday pulling what was left of the exhaust off the 'burb. Going to temporarily throw a standard replacement muffler and tailpipe on there until I can get a better understanding of the condition of the motor, as well as one of those slimline flexible 'catalytic converters'. It did...

    Can we be honest people?

Mine would be 3 things: - Why the plastic spider injector thingy in the Vortec 4.3? - Why the electric 4wd shift? (Can you tell I've had several S-10s?) - If you're going to rebadge European cars why not the decent versions? (Vauxhall Astra sold as a LeMans, why not the GTE model instead of the...

TBI 350 bracket below A/C compressor empty?

Haven't had a chance to dig around much, trying to get rid of the thrift store/ashtray aroma first but when I do I'll post photos of any plugged off stuff so other folks like myself know what it looks like
