    Automatic transmission cooler question

I installed the big 11"x11" Long Tru-Cool/B&M Supercooler. Yes, it needs to be installed after the heat exchanger that's in the radiator. Yes it has a passive bypass that keeps the oil from circulating through the entire thing, until the oil gets hot and thins out. Lastly, pay attention to...

    1981 3/4T Suburban in WA

The jump seat was apparently an aftermarket accessory from back in the day. I found it locally on CL, NOS and still in it's box. I don't know who it was made by, but I'll bet someone here probably does.

    What’s your honest A/C temp?

Dave's advice on the fan clutch is correct. In fact, unless it's new, I'd purchase a new heavy duty rated one. Also, if you can find a better fan, that would be a nice upgrade. Fan shroud is a big deal as well, it should come rearward enough that at least half of the fan pitch is inside the...

    Exhaust smoke on startup

Color of the smoke is important. Black smoke is too much fuel. Blue smoke is engine oil being burned. White smoke that goes away quickly is water vapor in the exhaust system. White smoke that hangs out for a while, and smells like maple syrup, is coolant. Generally, if you're seeing blue...

    TBI rebuild completed!

Nice job and thanks for posting those good photos! I did mine about 5-6yrs ago, used the thicker gasket to get the injectors up out of the air flow a bit, and installed a fuel pressure gauge and an adjustable regulator.

    Any original squares out there?

My suggestion would be to just spend your money on a set of real truck tires for it. It'll handle, steer, and look correct. Anything else IMO, is just throwing away your money. If you don't want to put LT rated tires on it, at least put the next stage down.

    Any original squares out there?

Thank you! I don't know jack about the history of the trucks, but man, those are some small tires.

    Floor Mats

Yes. I have a set in my 'burb, along with the matching long narrow ones that go in front of the middle and rear seats.

    Any original squares out there?

I my found my '90 GMC Suburban SLE 4x4 V1500 in 2004 at the local Goodwill Donation Center with 225k on it. Peeling paint, passenger front door caved in, flat front tire. It was love at first site. I had it repainted, and there are towing/transmission/performance things hidden. Otherwise...

PM'd you because I think I have the one out of my '90 burb still

    Correct Radiator

Instead of sacrificing that nice long diesel shroud and closing panel, you might be better off just getting the SBC shroud. Shouldn't be hard to find one.

    Correct Radiator

That radiator definitely fits better. Is it long enough to fit the diesel shroud? That looks more like the width of the BB/SBC radiator with a 28" core. If so, the standard deep SBC shroud should work if you have a SBC, and the shroud "should" flare rearward enough to cover the majority of...

    1981 3/4T Suburban in WA

....and taken the zero off the end. There was a time when I would have killed for that bench seat, but then I found an aftermarket console that flips up into a jump seat.

    Emissions Question

In a pinch, you can also purchase either brass or plastic "barbed" nipples from your local hardware store (not a big box store like home deep hole), and then drill out where your broken fitting was located, to a size that will fit your new fitting. Epoxy it in there with 2 part plastic epoxy...

    Correct Radiator

Was gonna suggest the same thing. You have the real estate, go with the big 19x34 radiator. I believe they're available in both OE brass/copper, and plastic tank with aluminum core. I've done the upgrade from the "standard" SBC radiator, to the same width, but thicker 454 version, and then...

    Help 1991 burb shift issues

Both times that mine failed in this exact way, once it shifted out of 2nd, it was as if it was in neutral. So I drove it home by taking back roads, winding it up in 2nd, shifting to neutral anyway, letting it coast back down to a speed where I could shift back into 2nd, and then repeating the...
