    Tire Rotation Discussion

Just went through this with mine. Normally I go front-to-rear on the same side. But we were on an 8 day road trip, camping along the way, and I noticed the outside of the fronts were getting all saw toothed. Pulled into an alignment place and had them reset the toe, and do a cross rotation...

    radiator question

That's what I was going to do and literally had a call in to Griffin Radiators and was waiting to hear back from them when I called one last local place, and the guy just happened to have a BB radiator sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Keep your other radiator in a safe place. IMO, it's...

Ceramic front brake pads, or not?

I'm embarrassed to say, I don't know. I don't see how I could have even gotten the 2nd collar loose w/o the 4pin socket. I'm guessing that the 2nd collar may have already been loose, and I just put it back together the way I found it. Pretty shitty work, is about all I can say.

Ceramic front brake pads, or not?

All back together and both sides bearing play adjusted and tightened properly. Perfectly quiet on the test drive.

Ceramic front brake pads, or not?

Well, I'll let you know what I find. It started about a year or so ago, really light at first, and only after a few hours on the road. A light touch of the break pedal would immediately make it go away, but a few moments later, it would return. But it sounded like it was the rear left, so...

    radiator question

Trans fluid is always pink, and if you had an internal trans cooler leak, the coolant would be milky and goopy. What you've got is a tank seam that's either cracked or has come unsoldered. Simply take the radiator to a quality radiator shop and have it rebuilt. This will include them...

Cooling Mod i am thinking about doing looking for feedback yah or nye

I'm on the fence about doing this myself (as you can see in the thread I started). Seems like there's a fairly good hp and torque improvment....like 17 & 20, or something? Can't remember from the other thread. There's also the noise reduction, which would be great, I'm sure. And I could...

Ceramic front brake pads, or not?

I've got some wierd wirrrring/scraping noise coming from left front wheel that goes away with a light touch of the brake pedal. The front semi-metallic pads (the nicest versions NAPA sells) are wearing funny and need to be replaced. Hoses are new and calipers are rebuilts from NAPA that I...

    Center console jump seat found

It's the "door" to the lower storage compartment, so it's only about 3" thick. There's an upholstery supply warehouse in town so I'll go down there next week and have her test sit on some foam. An electric (turkey/ham) carving knife does a great job sculpting foam, so I'm hoping I can unstaple...

    Center console jump seat found

Finally got to use the jump seat on an 8 day camping trip. Worked well, but the seat cushion foam is so hard, it's uncomfortable to be in for long periods. I'll be taking the cushion apart and remaking the foam out of softer foam. Other than that, it was a great add, and fun to have our...

    Tach

Man that's sweet. I'd be all over that, but I don't want to delete all of the warning lights in that lower area. What I did was put a small Sun Tach in the lower corner of the driver's side A pilar where it meets the dash top. I used one of the screws that holds the A pillar trim in place...

TBI Throttle Body Tear Down and Rebuild.

Yes. When I do porting, either in heads or throttle bodies (I've never done a TBI unit) I blend out all the "transitions." Not that I'm some sort of pro or anything, it's just how I was taught.

TBI Throttle Body Tear Down and Rebuild.

I just ment taking that "hump" out, so the funnel shape transitioned to the cylinder shape better.

TBI Throttle Body Tear Down and Rebuild.

Is it of value to blend the transition from the upper "funnel" shape, to the more cylindrical area that meets the throttle plates? There's sort of tight turn there that it seems like would create a restriction. In other words, can you make it more velocity stack shaped, right up to the...

    Motor oil

Don't take this the wrong way. I'm not sure servicing police cars is a valid test. No department keeps them long enough to know (or care) what condition the engines are in. Typically, they are auctioned off when they are 3-5 years old. Plus, depending on what your City allows/wants/can...

    Motor oil

I don't run cheap oils in anything. Same goes for oil and air filters. Engines and transmissions are to expensive to rebuild and a couple dollars "saved" on buying what potentially is crap, isn't worth it by a long shot. I run Valvoline Dexron VI in the trans, synthetic in engine and diffs...

    Center console jump seat found

Here's the seatbelt that I had custom made at Seatbeltplanet.com Great company and owner Steve is on the ball. The belt isn't as light and shiny as the camera flash makes it look. It's actually the color of the gray plastic inserts on each shoulder belt.

    Starting a 350 that's been sitting

+1. I do the exact same thing.....pull plugs, a little oil down the bores, crank it over by hand, then crank on the starter with plugs removed until it makes oil pressure. Then put the plugs in and fire it up.

    radiator help

Just went through this and was not feeling the love for all the aftermarket junk. Wound up installing an OEM 4 row from a Big Block. Had I not found that, I would have purchased a Griffin.

    Center console jump seat found

The roof console is factory. I think all 'burbs got them.....at least in the later years. It's got 2 sliding doors.....I guess to put your sun glasses in? They're retarded, as is the storage up in them. I never use them. Then, there are 4 overhead swiveling map lights, like the overhead...

    Center console jump seat found

Thanks for the link. Just ordered a seatbelt from them. Update: That seatbelt is 74" long. I don't know who that fits, other than maybe Jawba-The-Hut. I'll be sending it back. In the meantime, I contacted Steve who owns www.seatbeltplanet.com. His company makes fantastic looking OEM...

    Center console jump seat found

Thanks. I sort of so-so about it. I don't like that the upholstery isn't OE and if I were more hardcore, I'd have it recovered using the OE stuff that I've harvested out of wrecked 'burbs (that's how I was able to save the front seats). No idea how they intended it to be mounted using their...

Whats you gas mileage on your squarebody truck?

All I can say is; buy a Rabbit P/u if you can find one. They are gold, and have a huge cult following. Nice ones were fetching close to 10k, and a solid unmolested daily driver is worth 5k all day long. If you live in area where they are driven on salted roads, or excessive rain, make...
