Link Belt vs. (Double) Roller Timing Chains

It sounds like a possible exhaust leak near the driver's side front Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Harmonic Vibration

Hopefully that will correct the concern. Beats a t-case or differential overhaul$$$ Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Harmonic Vibration

There should be no end play whatsoever! That small/forward end of the pulley should be flush with the pump shaft.

I've used goodyear brand hoses with success over the years

What have you done to your square lately??

If you have a real oh sh*t moment, use the parking brake pedal to mechanically partial apply rear brakes. Be careful!

    Oil pressure sender

Perhaps someone can correct me, but I don't believe that the squares had a "mechanical" oil pressure gauge. Thought it was either electrical gauge or an oil warning light that is also electric. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What engine are you using? What oil pressure gauge are you going to use? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    New transmission help

I bet it was ordered, I never see manual shift t-case at work unless it's a base model WT. You sure it's really a Z71? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Harmonic Vibration

I'm using Tapatalk right now so I can't see the picture you referred. I still think that weight is huge! Perhaps search for an image of a GM flex plate for the L31? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Harmonic Vibration

Just got thru reading your post. Isn't the L31 a small block? The photo in post #69 shows a flex plate with a huge weight as seen on external balance 400 or 454 engines. Just a thought Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    90 suburban dead

When you find the root cause of failure to be the ignition module, I would recommend that you buy only ac Delco for quality assurance. Heck, buy 2 and keep the spare in the glove box! Simple fix Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What have you done to your square lately??

I don't think an overfill condition in a gear driven t-case would cause noise, probably only leaks. It's "splash" lubricated like the differential, no pump to cavitate or surge. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What have you done to your square lately??

Might have transmission fluid leaking into transfer case causing the over fill condition. Check transmission fluid level too Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Ls swap question

That 03 fuel tank mounts inside the frame rail. The square body tank mounts outside. I'd buy and 87 tank and sending unit, install your pump and go! New tanks and sending units are relatively inexpensive

That probably eliminate the fan clutch, might have someone ride in rear area of the burb to isolate noise heard coming from rear of vehicle Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What have you done to your square lately??

Is it only speed related? Or is it rpm related? Noise only occur when vehicle in motion? This can help eliminate items if you can really pinpoint when noise happens.

What have you done to your square lately??

Probably pinion bearings, as you said noise occurred in straight line driving. If it was smoking, be prepared to replace all bearings and seals. I would also inspect the carrier and gears for signs of overtemp. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    What to do...

My 2 cents... I agree with both of you! In a racing type environment, where everything matters, I would index. Those guys remove and "read" spark plugs after every run. In a daily driver I check the plug gap and install. Kind of like balancing an engine when rebuilding. To the OP, remove the...

    Rare valve covers?

I have a brand new set of those I bought in 1981 for a 67 camaro I drove in high school. Blew the engine before I could install them!

You mean to tell me that you actually found a place that rebuilds starter motors? I thought they were a thing of the past (like magazines), good to hear!
