77 K10 LS Swap
1977 used the 01513321 nailhead temp sensor. This sensor is obsolete and most of the alternatives, including the AC Delco replacement part, only look the same they don't have the same thermal resistance curve as the original Nailhead Sensor. 1986 chevrolet K20 pickup where do i get a wiper motor pigtail?
Pak Con II at the motor Park plug and Packard 56 Male at the firewall plug. I believe the original is 14ga SXL wire... Probably 16" or so... Gray and Black with a Blue Tracer. The GM wiring diagrams will tell you. If you have the tooling it's a matter of less than 5 minutes to make one...- hatzie

Nv4500 questions
Synchromesh is not an additive it's a type of manual transmission fluid that's intended for use in the NV3500 among other manual gearboxes. Valvoline Synchromesh oil is not the same thing as Castrol Syntorq LT. AFAIK the NV4500 is the only transmission that uses Syntorq LT.- hatzie

Heater core?
The heater core is supposed to separate the inlet and outlet. Some have the inlet and outlet on opposite ends but most just have at least one separator plate in the middle of the tank on one end... some have more than one on both ends so the coolant flows back and forth across the heater core... -

Some of the vacuum pumps were driven off the back of the camshaft like a distributor. Several years had an engine RPM sensor on the cam driven vacuum pump. My 76 only had a VIN plate on the doorjamb and the top of the SPID in the glovebox. Your 73 will be the same. You can verify the last 4-6 digits of the VIN on the engine and transmission ID pads if they're original to the truck... and there's usually a partial or even full VIN on top of the RH... -

RFID security keys tightly integrated with the PCM. They don't work with the original squarebody drivetrain. You folks doing the LS swaps should consider not defeating that particular feature. The A6 is a seriously oversize compressor... But it's heavy and uses more hp than the newer Sanden units. The Sanden more than makes up for the lack of displacement with a more efficient design. How I hate electrical issues...
Those old Teknosha and Kelsey Hayes hydraulic tapped trailer brake controllers are dead reliable. No need to rip it out. It's period correct. If the original installers bodged the minimal wiring you can clean it up. If you intend to tow with it just run a Blue 12 ga SXL wire from the trailer...- hatzie

Do I need both batteries?
It depends... The 24v CUCV has two 6TL batteries in series for NATO compliance. The Civvy trucks have the batteries in parallel. If you upgrade from the 27MT direct drive starter to the 28MT gear reduction starter getting the largest batteries you can fit is less critical but they still need...- hatzie
