    Mechanical oil pressure guage fitting

There's a very old saying... I heard it from someone in my grandparents' generation. "Don't argue with a jackass. A passerby won't be able to tell who is who." It was damn difficult to put into action when I was younger. Now I figure it's just best to keep my mouth shut and move on. Older...

    77 K10 LS Swap

1977 used the 01513321 nailhead temp sensor. This sensor is obsolete and most of the alternatives, including the AC Delco replacement part, only look the same they don't have the same thermal resistance curve as the original Nailhead Sensor. I believe it was changed in 1979 and again around...

No sticker in glove box.. how to get brake code

THe GM heritage center may be able to give you a copy of the build sheet. CompNine.com is another possible source of build options based on his VIN. Their public web page will run the VIN and tell you if it's in their database for free. If they have it... they charged me $5 for the options...

1986 chevrolet K20 pickup where do i get a wiper motor pigtail?

Pak Con II at the motor Park plug and Packard 56 Male at the firewall plug. I believe the original is 14ga SXL wire... Probably 16" or so... Gray and Black with a Blue Tracer. The GM wiring diagrams will tell you. If you have the tooling it's a matter of less than 5 minutes to make one...

    Speedometer Connection To Tranny?

Someone swapped a 4L60E into the truck to get overdrive and didn't finish the job.

    Speedometer Connection To Tranny?

That's an electronic speedometer VSS. Here's a fairly in-depth LS1Tech thread on how to deal with that on the 4L60E. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1717939-4l60e-mod-cable-speedo.html

    Nv4500 questions

Synchromesh is not an additive it's a type of manual transmission fluid that's intended for use in the NV3500 among other manual gearboxes. Valvoline Synchromesh oil is not the same thing as Castrol Syntorq LT. AFAIK the NV4500 is the only transmission that uses Syntorq LT.

    Heater core?

The heater core is supposed to separate the inlet and outlet. Some have the inlet and outlet on opposite ends but most just have at least one separator plate in the middle of the tank on one end... some have more than one on both ends so the coolant flows back and forth across the heater core...

Parts interchangeable between 6.2L from different years?

Some of the vacuum pumps were driven off the back of the camshaft like a distributor. Several years had an engine RPM sensor on the cam driven vacuum pump. Dr Lee Swanger used this sensor to drive a tach with an amplifier circuit. The writeup is on a pay site. There were at least two different...

    Replacement dash vin plate

This video makes it sound like you need to find out what you need to do in your state to stay legal and it can be done for the purposes of a restoration if you know the rules and carefully work with your state goons to stay within them. It likely involves working with some state government...

    Replacement dash vin plate

My 76 only had a VIN plate on the doorjamb and the top of the SPID in the glovebox. Your 73 will be the same. You can verify the last 4-6 digits of the VIN on the engine and transmission ID pads if they're original to the truck... and there's usually a partial or even full VIN on top of the RH...

    Parallel A/C Condenser

The stock CK light truck and G series van condensers are so massive that they'll work quite well with R134a. The light truck cab volume is much smaller than most 60's - 90's cars and the cars typically had much smaller condensers that still work adequately with R134a. The real performance...

    New Gauge Wiring

The stock 1985 system is outlined in post #3 of the dual tank theory of operation thread. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/1973-86-ck-1987-1991-rv-nl2-dual-tank-theory-of-operation.21341/ If I read your post correctly you have two aftermarket 0-90Ω fuel gauges?

RECOVERED AFTER STOLEN..HOW TO PREVENT THIS AGAIN

The point is to make it a PITA to steal. Thieves are not going to expect a chipped key immobilizer setup in a squarebody as long as you don't flap your gums about it. These small time critters want start it quick and be on their way. Well organized criminals could steal things like tow trucks...

RECOVERED AFTER STOLEN..HOW TO PREVENT THIS AGAIN

RFID security keys tightly integrated with the PCM. They don't work with the original squarebody drivetrain. You folks doing the LS swaps should consider not defeating that particular feature. Yes installing the late model steering column and keeping the security wiring is probably a PITA but...

    Delay wipers in a 78?

Classic seems to have the delay modules for the 78-83 trucks. Around $100 so it's not cheap. https://www.classicindustries.com/product/g10140.html They have the switch as well for around $50. Not sure what the quality level is tho. Both the 78-83 and 84-91 modules are not Potted and the...

    AC help

The A6 is a seriously oversize compressor... But it's heavy and uses more hp than the newer Sanden units. The Sanden more than makes up for the lack of displacement with a more efficient design. It's kinda like comparing the MK V 454 to the 6.0 & 6.2 LS motors. The stock lower displacement...

    SWEET SCORE! Wiper Delay Switch

I went a different direction on my 76... 1986 column, cab harness, and parts of the engine bay harness. I'm just interested in doing a little hacking when the weather gets nasty. LOL. Posting the schematics and the parts list would make sure the people with the right skill set could repair...

    SWEET SCORE! Wiper Delay Switch

Don't throw these units out. I'm loking for a dead board to do an autopsy on. I'll post a schematic and parts list along with pictures in the library. The switch may or may not be repairable. However, If you have a dead board inside that module it's repairable for someone with the tools and...

    How I hate electrical issues...

Those old Teknosha and Kelsey Hayes hydraulic tapped trailer brake controllers are dead reliable. No need to rip it out. It's period correct. If the original installers bodged the minimal wiring you can clean it up. If you intend to tow with it just run a Blue 12 ga SXL wire from the trailer...

    Do I need both batteries?

It depends... The 24v CUCV has two 6TL batteries in series for NATO compliance. The Civvy trucks have the batteries in parallel. If you upgrade from the 27MT direct drive starter to the 28MT gear reduction starter getting the largest batteries you can fit is less critical but they still need...
