    Power Window Motor Repair

That was sarcasm. I don't have any kids here and I'd still try Deoxit D5 on the contacts and even get a different motor before disabling that switch.

Fuel gauge moves around while driving

Between the nuts and the resistor. You're trying to make better contact with the resistor. You can also lightly use a pink pencil eraser to clean off any corrosion without damaging the resistor. Do all the instrument cluster lamps and other gauges work normally?

No start, no click, no nothing

Fusible links are not oogy boogie. Several are right down at the starter, depending on the year and equipment, where they receive some pretty rough treatment. Eventually they fatigue and die. According to the bloody PITA to read 1987 wiring diagrams the base optioned V8 truck had three; -At...

    Power Window Motor Repair

You can disassemble, clean, and re-work the electric window motors. The G-bodies used pretty much the same motor as the units in our trucks. This guy shows how it's disassembled. This guy shows the worn out bi-metallic switch that's there to prevent motor overheating. He's bypassing it...

Fuel tank selector valve 2 types?

If the 75-80 wiring is in good condition with a dead six port solenoid valve you can build a fairly short harness with a pair of Bosch Automotive type SPDT Mini ISO relays to handle the motor direction switching. I mounted the relays on the firewall inside the cab. Spray the socket terminals...

Fuel tank selector valve 2 types?

Asian garbage is poisoning the supply chain because it's cheap from currency warfare and there are limited import duties from the permanent "most favored nation status". Not all of the Asian manufactured goods are cheap crap. However there are too many that are to sift em out of the massive...

Fuel gauge moves around while driving

Pretty sure it should be 90Ω or thereabouts. Not Positive tho. These old ceramic resistors are likely 10% or higher tolerance. Honestly I'd put some internal/external tooth washers under the nuts and carefully snug them back down. This may fix some of your problem. Another partial issue is...

Fuel tank selector valve 2 types?

All three you mention are top shelf suppliers. You'd be safe with any of the three. AFAIK most of them are re-boxed Pollack valves. The Standard Motor FV5 & AC Delco U7000 Professional were both Pollack valves in 2004 when I installed mine on my 1976. Things often change so I welcome more...

    Fuel Tank Selector Valve

Not sure why folks immediately jump to the conclusion it's the most expensive part in the system... More often than not it's simply the dash switch. Cheap and easy to replace.

Fuel gauge moves around while driving

Not only could you buy damping or shunt resistors right from GM in the 60's 70's and 80's... you can buy em now from Corvette and F-Body parts purveyors. You need to know the correct ohmage but that ain't too difficult. http://secure.classichq.com/GAUGE-RESISTOR-84-OHM-PINK--P816.aspx If you...

    Plastic fuel tank cover ?

Depends on how you'll be running it. Dad has both in place along with bash plates at the front and rear ends and skids under the engine, transmission, and transfer case because he has a habit of bashing stuff underneath when he drives to logging sites. Ever see dents in 11ga sheet? I have...

Fuel tank selector valve 2 types?

Actually there were three valves used between 1973 & 1991. None of the systems are rocket science to repair once you understand what makes em tick. On both systems... -The fuel is routed from one of the tanks to a common OUT port. Only one tank at a time is valved open to the output port and...

    Electrical and Harness Repair Parts

Those are 2x2 4 position Weatherpak connectors that GM used for the taillamps from 83 or 84 on. I use these 2x2 disconnects for installing stake bed tail lamps on any truck, replacing damaged molded connectors on earlier trucks, and making up an easily replaceable/repairable harness for tail...

    Steering coloum change

You'll need to slightly modify the dash sheet metal. The 78-83 switch is slightly bigger. The switch wiring connector is different too. The 73-77 wiring is missing the park ground wire and the wiper motor connectors are different. The easiest route would be to acquire the 1978 cab and...

picked up another toy 84 fiero

I've seen an LS4/4T65E-HD and an LS4/F40 stuffed in a Fiero. The big Northstar will perk one right up too. Almost bought an X11 Citation with a Northstar... Sent from my SM-P605V using Tapatalk

No high beams or high beam indicator

I've always put two SPDT Mini ISO relays in the engine compartment that swap the ground from the main to the plow lamps and back depending on the position of a SPST switch. The relay rest positions are the main lamps so if there's a failure it defaults to the mains.

Saddle Tanks NOT near as dangerous as publicized !!!

When I was a kid a girl that babysat me died from gasoline leaking on her in a rolled late 60's Ford truck that still had the tank in the cab. The risk of death by fire in a side impact crash of any manufacturers' fullsize truck of this vintage is about the same. You'll be lucky to survive a...

    Electrical and Harness Repair Parts

If you know what terminal family you have it helps. The detective work is made easier by having the GM factory wiring diagrams. The connector shell part numbers are in the factory wiring diagrams. Google those part numbers and you'll usually be able to identify what family they are. Pak...

    steering column

Don't cut and splice you'll make a mess and there's no need for it. I believe the column connectors are Pak Con I. The female terminals are on the cab side and the male terminals are on the switch pigtail. Don't monkey with the cab side. Download the wiring diagrams for 1974 & 1978. Grab some...

    Cab swap legality

If you have clear title to the cab and frame some states will do a composite Von issued by the state. You'll have documentation from a government agency In this case. Some states do not do composite or salvage titles but will likely allow you to use one legally acquired in another state...

Fuel gauge wiring duel to single tank swap

The solenoid and manual valve dual tank seutps used the single tank wire as a disconnect on the frame rail. The dual tank harness has the same male pin jack as the tank sender to mate with that wire. You should be able to unplug the dual tank harness at that disconnect in the Tan wire and plug...

    Steering coloum change

The wiper and dimmer wiring is the only real challenge and that's if you don't want to leave the button on the floor and the switch on the dash. I will say that delay wipers are easier to retrofit onto the 84-91 column because the parts are easier to come by. The 1978-86 CK & 87-91 RV column...

    Delay Module location

If the truck had delay the cab and column plugs would not mate together. The non delay switch has the same gender (male) connector as the cab side of the delay module. The delay switch connector is female and the cab harness connector is female they need the module in between the cab and...
