I guess my advice would be to stay away from that dyno shop? Maybe find another dyno shop. More pictures.

I'm Going To Build A 650 HP 496 With 781 GM Oval Port Heads

My plan is to build this: A BBC with a 4.310 bore and a 4.250 stroke, 9.8 compression, ported 781 GM oval port heads 1.880/2.190 valves, 238/248/578/608/110 hyd roller cam, performer RPM air gap intake, 850 Holley carb. Some pictures.

402 Experts... Tell me what you know

If a person must use a closed chamber head IMO the 390 casting and the 702 are the best one to start with. Example of a 390 head with a 1.880/2.190 installed with the chambers unshrounded.

No offense taken, I don't expect everyone to fall in line with my thinking, theres reasons why I do things a certain way, which might not make sense to everyone.

SCE makes the smaller bore head gaskets.

Not trying to change anyones mind here, but if I built a 402 with a cam with 240 degrees @ .050 I guarantee it would be over 500 HP. I build 375 HP 396s for NHRA stock competition, 840 rectangle port heads with factory installed 2.190 intake valves. We never use factory spaced bores on a engine...

402 Experts... Tell me what you know

I would never do this. The bore is not big enough to utilize a 2.190/1.880 combination. The 049 - 781 head has to big of a chamber for a 4.125 bore, you would need a big dome to make this work, then heavy metal to make it balance. ]The best combination IMO is to use the 292 head (402) with a...

Ok........lets get the correct information out there. 396 and 427 cranks are not the same, although they use the same fordging number. The third counter weight on a 427 crank is thicker for the heavier pistons in the 427. Both 396 and 427 share the same stroke 3.766. The early 6223 crank is NOT...

I'am Going To Build A Smooth Idle 427

Keep in mind the goal was not to make big HP, the goal was a smooth idle with a factory 350 HP 396 cam or 427 390 HP hyd cam with the factory intake and a Q-Jet. I like it a lot.

Thank you. My cam grinder RED LINE used a 1960s GM cam core, then I found 1970s new TRW hyd lifters because I wanted complete reliability with the factory GM lobes. I clean all cast iron In a hot tank.
