    K10 downsizing from 454 to 305 roller

I'll take a video of it running but honestly wont sell until the other one is in place and running good - besides, I will have a better feel for what parts I had to steal :)

    K10 downsizing from 454 to 305 roller

wow, thanks. That is something to consider. Still keep considering what you guys said earlier.....maybe doing work on the 454 and putting it back to a stock cam and idle may be the best option.... I could liquidate the SBC serpentine system for what I have in the 305... A lot to think about...

    K10 downsizing from 454 to 305 roller

Thanks. Looking for a "easy" plug & play "in tank" option for my 73 single passenger side that would include a pump and sender. So are you saying that I may be able to source a 87 dual tank setup but only buy the passenger side? (and that would include a pump and sender) - sorry, I know nothing...

    K10 downsizing from 454 to 305 roller

All good points @TotalyHucked, truck originally was a 350 engine, 350/NP203, obviously had some front end damage with a lot of 77 and newer body parts and I believe the 454 came from that donor. Worked hard on getting rid of the lift kit, stock suspension and stock tire size. Going back with all...

    K10 downsizing from 454 to 305 roller

Thanks @nvrenuf and @85K304SPD. I will definitely look into the fuel pump situation. I used the same serpentine system on my 406 in my Chevelle (1990 Camaro donor car) and love it. Havent decided what to do with the 454. Someone has put a cam in it and am looking for something much better on...

    K10 downsizing from 454 to 305 roller

on my 73 K10 (454, TH350 and NP203), I am removing my 454 and installing a 305 from a '88 Camaro. The 305 is a one piece rear seal, roller cam and full serpentine system. Ditching the TBI for a small electric choke 4 barrel (prob 500 cfm range). Have been researching what I can use from the 454...

Thanks @da_raabi , you are a great help. Purchased the Omix-Ada parts you listed via Summit. Thanks!

73 K10 lower steering column part source

On my 73 (splined shaft) what is the upper piece with the deteriorated boot? I is this a bushing or something similar? I have searched all over and cant seem to find anyone who sells a replacement piece and/or what the correct term is. Currently rebuilding the steering system and would have...

Thanks @waterpirate , I didnt know if these were known to be really bad and others good. Will give it a try. Thanks

    Cobra King door

The 73 I bought came with a couple of windows and a Cobra King drivers side door (CV92403L). I havent tried removing the existing door and fitting it to the cab but have read some not so flattering reviews. Anyone have any experience with these Taiwanese doors? If they are junk, what...

    73 K10 mismatch parts - help decoding

thanks @Grit dog, I will give the braces a shot and not worry that the front edge is not 73 as long as I can get it pretty close. This will not be a show truck, it will be our daily driver farm truck. We love the look of the square bodies and figure by the time I go through this and get it...

    73 K10 mismatch parts - help decoding

Thanks PrairieDrifter! so it sounds like I have nothing to gain by trying to source different / better fitting fenders, that is good. I assume to replace those fender badges the fender has to be off the truck, is that correct? (are the mounting holes universal does anyone know - meaning if I...

    73 K10 mismatch parts - help decoding

Thank you all for this forum. I spend far too much time reading posts on here trying to figure out the best way to restore this great truck. Though after going thru a 1968 Corvette convertible years ago, I swore never again to get involved in the first year of anything, and here is my '73 :)...

Remove Lift and Figure out what I have....

I will let the experts weigh in on the technical specifics, but I just went through this with removing a 3" lift (and a huge learning experience that was) and am still struggling with figuring out what I have (1973 K10 but probably a 77? front clip and drivetrain)...but anyway, for the lowering...

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

I think you're right about the self tapping bolts. I saw some similar wheels on Summit (without the holes - threaded or not) so I guess if I dont come across a good used one for a spare I could get that and drill my own holes, thanks

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

I want to thank everyone for the help and great advice! I found that Rock Auto is a great resource and buying a Dewalt 750 ft/lb impact wrench was a huge help. Even with that, I had to cut some U bolts and spring shackle bolts. Ended up changing all four shocks and front springs (Rock Auto)...

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

Thanks @Grit dog and @78C10BigTen , have been focused on other areas and didn't consider the steering. Wife and I are old, have a small horse farm and cant climb into things (especially with our Border Collie) like we used to...stock height it is for us. What do you think? Maybe I need a stock...

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

Thanks Josh, and thanks for everyone that has replied! Summit appears to only have springs for various lifted setups, so I ended up ordering a set of 22402 springs from Rock Auto (they had different prices and listings under the same part number for Dayton and Husky - but it appears they are the...

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

Thanks, looking at Rock Auto today. Also came across a SD Truck Springs website. Good points on the bushing sizes, I can appreciate what a pain that is. Went through that with control arm bushings on my 71 Chevelle.

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

Thanks. I was wondering about the rear springs. If I can find a good source and the price (including shipping) isnt crazy, I may go ahead and replace all four. Looking in LIM and they have the U bolts, nuts etc so atleast the parts do seem to be available. Any thoughts on the front springs...

Remove 3" lift and return to stock

I just purchased a 1973 K10 with what appears to be a 3" lift kit installed and my intention is to return it to stock height configuration. Of course the manufacturer of the lift kit is unknown and original parts are long gone. I have looked through some lift kit installation instructions in an...
