Lowering kit is lower than expected... issues!!

I’ve heard Mcgaughys springs are weaker than others causing them to compress more. I love the stance. Honestly, I hate to pay money to drop it and then raise lol. Those tubs would certainly do the trick. I’m going to do some fabrication to get the setup to work.

Lowering kit is lower than expected... issues!!

Yeah that’s the picture making it look that way. I believe the issue is that the McGaughys front 2” springs are actually lowering the truck 3-3.5” instead of 2” as designed too.

Lowering kit is lower than expected... issues!!

After installing the 4.5/6 McGaughys kit and running 20x8.5 (4.75 BS) with 255/45/20 tires there is a ton of rubbing issues. I think this kit lowered the front of the truck about 5.5” instead of 4.5”. Is it possible I may have done something wrong? Really frustrating.... I don’t who’s truck...

Finally getting to drive it 4/6 drop

Your truck looks great! I had previously just installed the same 4.5/6 kit but it is a McGaughys. I am running 20x8 Riddlers on front with 255/45/20 and have some rubbing. What does the bottom of the front fender measure to the ground on your truck? Thanks!!

    HELP!! McGaughys 4.5/6 kit issues

Hey everyone. I installed the 4.5/6 kit this past weekend. Has anyone ran into the issues I have listed below? Issues I ran into: - rear shocks were not long enough to work with the shock relocation brackets. they were about 2” too short. I had to use the OEM shocks. - front shocks I had to...

    1985 C10 Dash Gauge Wiring

Does anyone have the Classic Instruments or Syndicate gauges installed in their truck? I'm having second thoughts about cutting the harness plug off and wiring a new one on. I think the Syndicate are plug and play.... Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Syndicate Dakota Digital vs Classic Instrument Gauges

I'm wanting to upgrade my current OEM gauges with something that has somewhat of an OEN look, but brighter and more modern. I am looking at 2 different ones. The Syndicate Dakotas and the Classic Instrument (close to OEM look) gauges. Has anyone installed either of these in their trucks? if so...

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

Yeah, I do too. I am going to keep them. I may change them up from time to time. The Rally's have a great look especially with the wider tires.

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

well.... that's kinda what I have been wondering about. I may have to do some fab/mods to get it to work properly. The SBC sits down lower than the Pontiac 400. Gonna be interesting! :)

    1985 C10 Dash Gauge Wiring

I am ordering a new gauge cluster (Classic Instruments) for my C10. The OEM wiring harness plug has to be cut and re-attached with the new harness connector. Sounds easy enough... but very challenging without a wiring diagram. Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram related to the dash...

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

Thanks man! It's always easy once you find the problem!! LOL. I'll post a few more pics of my truck soon... It is getting new suspension, wheels, dash, gauges, touchscreen radio and a custom ash tray delete for phone cradle/USB connection and some new engine components. Trying to talk myself...

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

Honestly... it was pure luck! I pulled all wires from plastic housing on the drivers side to squeeze connectors for a tighter fit on the bulb. The passengers side was just disconnected. When I connected them to the light on the drivers side, I turned the lights on and it looked great. When I...

Well I figured it out. Ended up swapping the hot and ground wires on the low beam harness. Problem solved. Here is a pic with low beams only and a pic with high beams on. Thanks for all your help!

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

It looks like the top lights are staying on, but seem to dim when brights are on. Is this normal?

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

Thanks! Yes, there are 3 prongs going to the top lights and 2 prongs going to the bottom lights. I just replaced all 4 headlights to the newer style, but the old lights did the same. I would think it is in the wiring. hmmm now the fun begins!!

    Headlights on bright, bottom only

Hey y’all. I noticed today that my low beam lights work fine, but when I switch to high beams only the bottom lights come on. The top low beams go out. Is this normal or should all 4 be lit using brights?

    1985 C10 Lowered with 20's front and 22's rear

I like the sidewall on a tire as well. I like the 'Hot Rod' look! After doing some more research, I may end up going with 20's on all 4 and sticking with the same size tires as I mentioned before. Would you recommend the Belltech 4/6 or Mcgaughy's 4.5/6 kit?

    1985 C10 Lowered with 20's front and 22's rear

Before your truck was lowered, how was it sitting? Did it have a rake look? My truck is sitting level. If I am measuring correctly, with a 4/6 kit the rear of my truck will sit lower. However, The tire sizes I want to run are front 28" and rear 30". I know this would compensate for the rake look...
