Undertightened cork gasket on TH350 and whole thing flooded, clean and reuse?

I have used both and they all leaked, tried flattening it out and no luck. Finally just used a silicone gasket and transmission gasket maker on both sides and no leaks yet.

    Lift kit

i suggest skyjacker soft ride lift kit. My buddy has one in his truck and it rides much better than my BDS lift. Now my kit is definitely more heavy duty but definitely rides like it! I would stay away from rough country, seen a few start sagging after a number of years

    K10 softer ride

A friend of mine has a sky jacker soft ride and it has a decent ride for an older lifted truck. Will it be newer truck ride? Nope never! Don’t have experience with 4 links but I am sure they would be better.

    2-Piece Shaft swap into a K20 Longbed

I have a k20 long bed lifted 6” with a th350 and just swapped in a np205 about a year ago. It has a np203 and the 205 was shorts by a good amount. Had to have both driveshafts resized. I was just under the max length the drive shop guy said, I think he said 70” and I was like 68” (can’t remember...

    Spring Lift Ride Question

I have a 6” BDS spring lift kit and I agree with what has been said, a 6” spring is not a smooth ride. That being said it is a older truck lifted truck, so ride was not a big consideration for me. I have never rode in a truck with a shackle flip so can’t comment on that. Plus BDS has a life time...

    Batteries

Best battery I ever had was a Panasonic that came stock with my ‘03 4Runner. Used it for about 6 years in my 4Runner, then put it in my mud truck for another 5 years with it sitting most of the time. Never a problem. Finally my friend killed it by using it to start his rebuilt 350 that he...

    Ultra Gray vs.Ultra Black?

I went ultra copper for my intake manifold. Probably a little over kill, but doesn’t leak!

10 inch lift and 37 inch tires on 88 suburban

I am not going to say don’t go for a 10” lift, but a 6” lift will fit 37”. That is what I run on my truck. If you go off-road you might have to do some slight trimming. I have a BDS lift and it is a bit stiff. Skyjacker soft ride would probably be best for one road. My friend has a skyjacker...

Which one to pick, TH350 or TH400 ?

I should add that if you swap in the th400 you are probably looking at new driveshaft. Cause the length of a th350 and th400 are different. Might be able to get away with it but when I went from a np203 to np205 I had to get new driveshafts front and rear. Also I had a hell of a time with my...

    Np203 to Np205 , transfer case swap

I know this thread is kind of old but just did my swap from a np203 to np205. Was able to use the same cross member. Driveshaft lengths were about 6” difference. Front had to be shortened and rear lengthened. Mine were approximately 26.5” for the front and 66” for the rear. I found a np205 with...

How much HP will a th350 handle? New motor!

The NP203 is pretty strong, the chain is what I believe usually causes people to ditch it. Plus a lot got converted to part time and people forget they have to drive around in 4x4 every 200 miles or so to get oil to splash into the back of the case. If you don’t then it gets destroyed. I read...

    cam change

If you removed the whole front end and hood, except the front fenders. This was to install a new engine cause my truck is too high to go over. Though it would work for a cam swap as well.

Cam Break In - Tips for Avoiding Wiped Lobes?

I agree with Raider, get it running correctly then do the cam upgrade. As others have said it is not hard just use additive or break in oil and keep the rpms up. Though I didn’t see anyone mention about using a priming tool to get oil circulated before starting. I went to autozone and did the...

any holley avenger gurus out there?

I do understand about the accelerator pump, but I guess I didn’t explain myself well. I didn’t bend the arm till it was not touching the acc pump. Even with my adjustment screw all the way off there was not 10 to 15 thou from the acc pump as per Holley’s instructions. (I am not at home right now...

any holley avenger gurus out there?

The OP doesn’t have transmission problems, I was just sharing what I did with my carb. Then mentioned I have not perfected my carb settings, since my transmission gave out so I am focused on repairing that. Sorry for the confusion!

any holley avenger gurus out there?

I followed the ck5 article above and went with the blue pump cam on #2 and a #35 squirter. I still had some issues with stumble. I discovered that the accelerator pump metal lever under the screw with the red spring (sorry I don’t know the real term for it) it had to much pressure on it. I...

    I'm taking the plunge....2005 seats in a 76

Ya I thought about stripping it down to just the seat and making a frame for it. Don’t really care about the sliding feature. It just seemed like the seat would flex too much and didn’t want to mess with it incase of an accident. I have rot repair to do on the floor area anyways so figured make...

    I'm taking the plunge....2005 seats in a 76

I just picked up the same style seats and have the same steering wheel as you. I am just a much bigger guy at 6'5" so there is no way it will fit for me the way it is. My plan this summer is to remove the old gas tank, since it has a crack in it and I am using a fuel cell. I have looked into the...

Engine break in run - rotating engine and filling carb bowls?

You can also go to autozone, oriellys, etc and rent for free the oil priming tool, if you don’t have a old distributor to modify. That is what I did a few years ago and it worked fine.

    350 build advice.Heads,Cam .Etc.

Hey Ricko, I have a similar set up. Found a clean tbi motor and didn’t want to spend lots of money. I used a lunati voodoo cam 10120701. With the tbi heads and an elderbrock RPM intake manifold, truck avenger carb. Oh and of course new valve springs. Figure I am around 250hp and 400ft/lbs. Is it...

    Mystery Motor Mounts

I had an issue finding motor mounts once but mine was a 350 and yes the ones you have look like they are for the 350. Now my truck frame is a 1976 and body is an 1985, so this kind of stuff happens to me all the time! Not sure if the 454 had different ones. I just brought my old mounts into Napa...

    Vibration. K20 '76 th350 NP203 and a 400 motor.

Ya $850 for a driveshaft, head to the junk yard and get one out of a truck. I seriously don’t think it is the driveshaft. I have a huge drive shaft out of a wrecker in my K20, I don’t have any vibrations like your talking about. Had a bad one once and it was the double cardin u-joints in the...

    Vibration. K20 '76 th350 NP203 and a 400 motor.

If you have the np203 then I would swap it and see if it helps. I read that it should have 10w30 or 40 in it. I use it in my np203 and had no issues. A moderate clunk is normal cause of the chain. Even if you have the part time conversion and hubs you should put it in 4wheel drive and drive it...
