    Suggestion, use barrel nuts so you don't have to access from behind if they need to be removed. Lots of work to remove a fender for a badge.

    All mine are Silverado trim too. My 78 came with the glide out carrier but only the crossmember and side support are still there. I'm sure because they are riveted. You'll have to post a pic.

    Nice truck. Congrats on the navy. The 5 speed is a good upgrade. I do my own work so not sure how shops are and I'm in TX anyway. I noticed on your options tag you have a glide out spare tire carrier. Can you take a pic? My 78 k10 is missing most of the pieces that makeup the assembly.

    What he said. I replaced my interior when I restored my k5. This included the door pulls. I had the original ones but they were worn. I have now been waiting 10+ months for USA1INDUSTRIES to send my new ones. So glad I kept the originals. I have been using them for the 4 months.

    There is a harness that LMC sells with relays to provide power directly from the battery. This will make the windows open and close more quickly. I built my own harness and relay setup and my k5 closes almost 2x faster than my r10. Here's the link...

    I don't know about rare but it is heavily optioned and looks to be a survivor. I personally would take care of any mechanical issues, clean, polish and enjoy.

    I like to use the purple power degreaser and a plastic scraper. A metal one can gouge the paint. Never tried oven cleaner. Let me know how that works if you try.

    I saw implement paint at Tractor Supply a month or so ago. They had the popular colors; JD, Ford, Caterpillar, Kubota... Not sure if I'd paint my truck with it but you can try.
