My opinion, our fuel tanks rust from the outside because of the plastic cover...

Exactly. My 87 R10 zero rust anywhere, tanks are great, has a plastic shield on each one. My 82 k5 has a skid plate and mud caused a few small pin holes. Not an issue since I was changing for a LS swap. Same thing on my k10. PO must have lived in mud. Can't tell you how many times I had to power...

    15" vs 17" wheels

Interesting and that makes sense. I assume they are probably both aluminum. Reminds me that when people put huge wheels on their cars the braking distance is worse.

    15" vs 17" wheels

I was thinking the weight would be approximately the same if I went from 15" steel wagons to 17" aluminum. BFG makes both the tires I like in 15 and 17, no issue there. Not sure if in the future that will change. I know many are having this problem with 16/16.5 wheels.

    15" vs 17" wheels

I had an 86 k20 with 16.5's and 33x12.5 BFG KO's years ago. I liked the look and the ride. I'm with you, I think the tires are my main problem.

    15" vs 17" wheels

Good points. I know there are more plys in the 17's than 15s, at least in the tires I'm considering. Not worried about a stiff ride, not a caddy. I actually prefer that. With the current setup 33x12.5R15 it just feels a little spongy. Could also be that the tires are worn out, IDK.

    15" vs 17" wheels

Right, this is what I've been trying to decide. Is it worth the $$ to move to 17"? I'd have to buy wheels and more expensive tires. The 15" BFG KO2's are $193 at discount tire with the 17" at $287 each. KM3's are $262 vs $315 In either case I have to buy tires, mine are shot.

    78 K20 Doors

Correct. Power windows started in 77 and the internal structure had to change to accommodate. So to answer the OP, 77+ are the same.

Chop the top? Or don’t, that is the question...

There's a 4 door dually around me that has been lowered. Based on the grill has to be a 89-91. I'll take a pic tomorrow. I see it in the mornings.

    Fender emblem removal

For your 87, the emblems are lower and plastic. The studs can be broken off easily. I doubt you will be able to get you hand down there to unloosen the nuts. Like the earlier squares.

    Fender emblem removal

If you are talking about the 79 in your profile it has the high mounted emblems which are metal. On those you should be able to remove with the fender in place. Of course depending on the size of you hand.

    15" vs 17" wheels

Hello, Has anyone changed from 15" wheels to 17" and noticed a difference in ride? Is the ride better or worse, more stable, etc? Will be for my 4x4 K5 with 33x12.5 tires. Thanks.

    Right fuel tank?

Also check if your sender has 2 or 3 connections. I'm replacing my 78 short bed k10 tanks and remember this was an option on RA.

Which year hoods and fenders fit which?

73-78 hoods are the same, they have the fully flat front. 79-80 are the same, flat front with a little extra styling. 73-80 hoods will all fit the same way. For fenders 73-80 are the same. 81-87 have the same fenders and hoods. Up to 91 for burbs, K5s and 3+3.

    New radio instal

Since your truck is an 87, I assume it came with the digital radio. That's the constant power for memory when the ignition is off.

Difference between Urethane and Vinyl Wrapped Dash Pads?

I just went through this on my k5. Urethane is a POS. It has the metal support like the original but wavy and floppy. For an extra ~100 I went with the vinyl wrap which is the closest to original in the aftermarket. Cheyanne pickup parts. Like any aftermarket part it needed a little massaging...

    205?

Exactly. This is my thought for my 78 k10. Unless I find a donor with all the parts the 203 is staying.

    Adding a Key Fob

Yes not an issue. My R10 has a simple lock and unlock alarm setup. For my k5 it's a remote start alarm. Of course it locks and unlocks, turns park lights on...I also set it to lock the doors when I put it in drive and unlock when the key is turned off. Will probably add a module to roll the...

    Np203 to Np205 , transfer case swap

That's good. One less thing to worry about.

    1991 5.3L 2500 Burb

Right, you can't really use the 5.3 AC compressor in the stock location. I will also have to get the high mount bracket like you did.

    91’ suburban 6.0 ls swap

Not sure why you are having issues with the swap. Maybe motor mounts? I have a 6.0 with 4l65e and np241c transfer case in my k5. No cutting or clearancing required. I used the stock driveshafts. Also run shorty headers and full dual exhaust.

    91’ suburban 6.0 ls swap

The 6.5ltr diesel pedal from the 90s works great. Just swap 2 wires.

    1991 5.3L 2500 Burb

Nice progress. I'm going back and forth between the original R4 compressor and a sanden 508. Sanden is better but with the R4 just needs a bracket and belt.

    Np203 to Np205 , transfer case swap

Right, I looked into this for my 78 k10. For the swap need the 205 T-case, both driveshafts, shift lever, coupler/adaptor and I believe the cross member (can't remember for sure). I decided I didn't need a 205 that badly. If I run across a 1980 donor for the right price then I might swap.

    Truck Shop Interior parts Quality?

Exactly, I've looked at several companies and eventually you will find that ACC makes the floor/door carpet. Rockauto has the best price I've found. I've used them for my r10 and k5.

Cab and door rust, fix or replace?

Agreed, for the bolt on parts, find a good donor. You'll spend more time than it's worth trying to repair. They are everywhere in TX. The cab is a different story. Going to have to investigate how bad the rust/bondo is. Again in TX you can find a donor for not too much but then there is the VIN...
