What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

Yep. That's how I feel about it and was suggesting selling it as a parts truck. I actually went through the effort of having DMV run a search for the VIN as well as having my cop friend do a search for the cucv VIN. DMV search says it has never been titled. Police search has conflicting info of...

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

I rebuilt it and ended up selling it to a friend that does mud bogs. I got used to the 3.08 gears. Much nicer cruising RPM for the highway.

I'm in Virginia. If you are in New Mexico it would be a hell of a drive.

Is this for vehicles other than square bodies, or can I get an idea of what I should ask for my truck? 1986 CUCV/D30 The Good: 5.3L “LS” swap SM-465 trans NP-208 transfer case 28,000 miles Almost no rust New front springs New shocks Very reliable and would trust it to drive anywhere within...

Kicking around doing an LS swap

For what it's worth I get 16 mpg with my 5.3 LS swap. I am running the SM465 to the NP208 with a 3.08 gear and 33" tires.

    Ignition Switch Adjustment

I'm back to wondering if it's the ignition switch. It was fine for a few weeks and it's acting up again. It is acting similar to a vehicle that has a poor connection with the battery terminals. Just a click and the lights go out. The battery is less than a year old and has good voltage. The...

How worried should I be about heat on the oil filter ?

Keep in mind that most turbochargers are oil fed and get to exhaust temperatures. As long as there is flow going through the system it should be fine.

I'm in need of help identifying Universal Joints.

I don't know that you are going to identify them without removing/measuring them. You need a set of calipers to get the cap diameters and the distance from one cap to another. Then look for a cross reference from your company of choice.

Lets see your cell phone mount

What is your website for selling them? Is this just bare sheetmetal?

Lets see your cell phone mount

I bought the cupholder from LMC. It will fit smaller phones.

Anyone dealt with LMC Trucks for parts?

I buy from LMC all the time and I've never had to do that.

    Part Identification Flywheel Filler Plate

Thanks. That got me pointed in the right direction. Inspection cover seems to be the closest thing to an official name I see. https://4speedconversions-com.3dcartstores.com/bell-cover.html

    Part Identification Flywheel Filler Plate

What is the little plastic piece that bolts to the engine and covers the exposed flywheel on either side of the bellhousing? Is it specific to the bellhousing or the engine?

    Axle Placement and Truck Height

I have definitely experienced it with older cars. Especially with coil sprung and torsion bar vehicles. I'm just surprised it settled like that with 6-month-old springs.

Am I crazy to expect more than 10 MPG

I get about 16 mpg in my truck. But I am LS-swapped, 3.08 gears, and 33" tires.

    Axle Placement and Truck Height

Single, driver side gas tank and most of the time it's just my fat ass in the driver's seat and maybe the dog on the bench with me.

    Axle Placement and Truck Height

Yep. You are right. The center pin for the leaf pack located the spring mount. Thanks for jogging my memory. I feel better about the axle placement now.

    Axle Placement and Truck Height

I replaced the front leaf springs and shocks at all four corners in the fall of last year. I have noticed recently that the front driver's side of the truck is lower than the passenger side. Is there something other than the leaves that would cause this? How it the axle supposed to be located...

    Ignition Switch Adjustment

It wasn't a problem until I replaced all the electrical components in the column. I was able to adjust it and it hasn't failed to start yet (knock on wood).

    Ignition Switch Adjustment

It didn't fit together well without using the stud. There is a gap between the two switches.

    Clutch switch pigtail

I think I got the switch installed correctly. Are both sides of this switch normal open? The wiper connector only fits in one side. I'm glad I kept all the old connectors when I rewired the truck.
