What have you done to your square lately??

Ordered up the deeper dish wheels for the front for a little more backspace. Couldn’t help it, they were down to $92.

What have you done to your square lately??

@JamesSam its pretty awesome. Mind you, we don’t get too hot up in my neck of the woods, but it stays nice and cool on 80 degree days, and it’s truly a work of art. They even stamp the tanks so if you paint it black, it’s hard to tell that it’s not a stock radiator.

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah. The Continental hose I ordered that was listed as 1.75” both ends was still 1.5”. I sent it back. It was a bunch of rigamarole to get a hose to fit, warming it up in an oven, stretching it over the outlet of an old water pump, then still fighting to get it on the rad outlet. 100% do not...

I went with a Cold Case. I used the code for Vice Grip Garage for free shipping- make sure you get the one with the 1.5” lower outlet.

Seems to me that some of that stuff does occasionally work, but I hate the thought of clogging everything up with something- I can only image that if it will stick to a leak, it’ll stick a lot of other places too that are unwanted maybe wouldn’t cool as well after that, but that’s just my thought.

I didn’t have any interactions with him, but always sad to hear that one of our members and someone who served in the armed forces has passed away. Rest in peace, Paladin.

    Collapsed upper radiator hose

I was gonna say, usually the lower hose has a spring in it to keep it from collapsing, so the fact that the upper is collapsing makes me wonder if it’s reverse flow? (Edit- meaning the water pump is reverse flow) If it’s a Cold Case, you should have a new cap that came with it (mine did).

What have you done to your square lately??

So, how I started off was with the “Shine Juice “, which is basically a concoction of linseed oil and some other stuff, non- permanent. It works just fine, adds a little bit of luster and will keep surface rust from progressing. If you don’t want something that you can’t remove on a whim, it...

What have you done to your square lately??

I forgot that Stay Tuned (Tony Angelo) just did a squarebody rescue about a month ago. It’s worth watching from the beginning because it’s cool to see the shape that they find it and how it turns out- but if you just want to see the VGG clear coat application, fast forward to 48:45.

What have you done to your square lately??

Derek Bieri (aka Vice Grip Garage) sells it, it’s formulated by Poppy’s Patina. It comes in a quart, with the activator to be mixed with it 8:1 ratio. It’s available in matte, satin and gloss. I did the gloss. It comes with an applicator pad (terry cloth wrapped sponge). I washed my truck with...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, I agree. I’m keeping an eye out for the same wheel in a little deeper dish. They’re out there and not expensive. I’ve gotten used to it, but it’s on my list of things to accomplish if possible. These are 5.25 BS on the front, they also offer them in 4.5 and 4.75 BS. Edit- thanks for the...

What have you done to your square lately??

This past week, scuffed her down with some gray Scotchbrite and applied the Vice Grip Garage wipe on clearcoat. The learning curve was a little steeper than I expected. If you get the applicator pad a little too saturated, it’ll run- but if it dries out a little too much then it smears, and on a...

I think it’s cool too when kids want to get in the cab and pretend. Brings a smile to my face, just have to remember to tell them not to do vroom-vroom with the gas pedal, haha.

What have you done to your square lately??

I love it when I find an easy solution to a problem…the lower rad hose “leak” I thought I had turned out to be operator error- I thought I’d tightened the radiator cap but it still had another couple mm to go before it stopped. I found the bottom lip of the cap a little damp, and I just needed...

What have you done to your square lately??

Took the truck out for coffee and a cruise around town this morning. Found a slow antifreeze leak around the lower radiator hose where it connects to the radiator. Probably from when I couldn’t find a 1.75” hose when I bought the Cold Case rad, and expanded it with a little heat. They had sworn...

@JamesSam, @Soundmound mentioned this guy in another thread a while back. I met him in person at the C10s On the Capital show- nice guy. You could send him a message if you’re on the Facespace, apparently he deals in Precision felts which is supposed to be good stuff and it’s who I’m going...

What have you done to your square lately??

She makes it out every once in a while lol. No, I’m pretty bad at taking time for pictures when I’m out- I’d say that any day that I’m off and it’s not raining, it’s out of the garage. It’s just the only time I ever think of picking up the cellphone camera :emotions33:
