Shifter on steering column lose
Sorry to revive an old thread, but by shifter spring has given up the ghost. I did see a YouTube video where somebody did this with the column off the truck, but obviously I’m not going to do that. Maybe that is the way to go. The problem is, it’s an ‘81 but has a 85-87 grille on it, it’s my favorite year for the square headlights. So no matter what I put on it, to the trained eye it will look wrong. I think I’ll just leave it off and start a wall decoration- the 73 and 81 can hang up... -

Yeah, that’s the same way in Michigan as I remember. Here in Washington, it’s supposed to be front and rear, but since I have a collector plate, it’s rear only. -

That’s my biggest problem, especially since they’re tarnished with age. And PO added a fish eye mirror onto the passenger side, which, if I use a “safety squint “ I can kind of use otherwise it’s pointless. -

Just curious, I happen to notice that mine has “car style “ mirrors on it, small base. Then I noticed others have the larger base like this one I posted earlier that on a van but look similar to ones on our trucks. Was there an option, or is there one more correct than the other? Mine doesn’t... -

Agree, sorry to the OP, I didn’t mean to hijack. I agree with others sentiments about calling cam makers and getting their direct input. And I also agree that it’s a mistake to over cam a heavier truck- I saw it happen in a parking lot at Costco. This poor square was beautiful, but it sounded...- ChuckN

Better illumination of gauge cluster possible?
I used 194 bulbs because it was the only thing in stock at the time. When I take the dash apart I’m definitely going 168, they’re just too dim.- ChuckN
