Wanna slam that 63-98 C10/C1500? Lets talk about it!

I hear what you’re saying. When I had to trim my ball joint cups, I got the all clear from CPP to do so, and actually they clearance them from their factories for some applications. It’s my impression that they don’t provide the clearance from the factory because most guys like bigger than...

    Mirror correct for ‘81?

That looks nice. I can’t tell from the picture, do they use the same base as the sport mirror?

    Shifter on steering column lose

Sorry to revive an old thread, but by shifter spring has given up the ghost. I did see a YouTube video where somebody did this with the column off the truck, but obviously I’m not going to do that. Has anybody replaced one of these recently? And if there’s any tricks, please let me know. I see...

If I could give you a hundred likes for that I would.

    Decorative front license plate poll

Absolutely, by that rationale you’d probably have to have a drivers license from that state too.

    That sucks!

    Decorative front license plate poll

I think in Washington state, you can do that. Just have to make sure it is a truck plate.

    Decorative front license plate poll

Maybe that is the way to go. The problem is, it’s an ‘81 but has a 85-87 grille on it, it’s my favorite year for the square headlights. So no matter what I put on it, to the trained eye it will look wrong. I think I’ll just leave it off and start a wall decoration- the 73 and 81 can hang up...

    Decorative front license plate poll

Yeah, that’s the same way in Michigan as I remember. Here in Washington, it’s supposed to be front and rear, but since I have a collector plate, it’s rear only.

    Decorative front license plate poll

I have a newer front bumper on my ‘81 that I kinda like as it is. But my dad left me this license plate underneath the seat of our ‘54 and I found it after his passing. The truck was built in Michigan, I was born in Michigan, and 1973 is my birth year. I did find a 1981 Washington plate, where...

    Mirror correct for ‘81?

That’s my biggest problem, especially since they’re tarnished with age. And PO added a fish eye mirror onto the passenger side, which, if I use a “safety squint “ I can kind of use otherwise it’s pointless.

    Mirror correct for ‘81?

Just curious, I happen to notice that mine has “car style “ mirrors on it, small base. Then I noticed others have the larger base like this one I posted earlier that on a van but look similar to ones on our trucks. Was there an option, or is there one more correct than the other? Mine doesn’t...

Is there such a thing as Cams for Dummies

Agree, sorry to the OP, I didn’t mean to hijack. I agree with others sentiments about calling cam makers and getting their direct input. And I also agree that it’s a mistake to over cam a heavier truck- I saw it happen in a parking lot at Costco. This poor square was beautiful, but it sounded...

Is there such a thing as Cams for Dummies

I’ll put on my flame suit when I say this is the reason that I’ve stayed with Edelbroken carbs since I bought my truck with one already on it. It’s like a carb for dummies, complete with crayons, and it got better when I went to the AVS2. Yada yada blah blah…”you just don’t know how to work on a...

@82sbshortbed the Cold Case showed up today. I don’t know if it works the best or if it’s the best deal, but it sure is a work of art.

What have you done to your square lately??

Sorry to hear that, bud. FWIW, I just ordered a Cold Case (@bluex seemed to endorse it as well) after mine started leaking, since Derek Bieri and Steve Dulcich seem to use and swear by them. It arrives in a couple days. If you use “vicegrip “ in the coupon code it’ll get you free shipping at the...

Better illumination of gauge cluster possible?

I used 194 bulbs because it was the only thing in stock at the time. When I take the dash apart I’m definitely going 168, they’re just too dim.

I finally realized why I like working on my '81 C10 so much

There’s a couple of things I want to accomplish before taking long road trips, but I do enjoy the simplicity and general comfort of my square. I’m even considering a modern set of aluminum heads with accessory holes so I can reinstall the A/C. But most everything but the most mortal issues I...

Looking forward to it! Do you leave your side tanks aluminum or do you paint them black usually to blend in?
