Broken main bolt

Fuel Hose OK ?
I’ve always ran hard lines, though picking the right one out of a catalog (regardless what they claim it will fit) can be a PITA. The only exception I’ve made is an Edelbrock stainless steel braided line with AN fittings that attach to the Edelbrock fuel pump and the Edelbrock carb hard line.- ChuckN

FWIW, I’ve had issues with Classic Industries and their parts labeling. Super nice folks, just think they don’t have it all together with what they’re selling. I had some of their tubular control arms that they insisted were for my truck but the ball joints were all wrong, not even close. -

That’s going to be the challenge- once I get to Everett and south through Seattle there will be mostly solid city traffic with very sporadic at best opportunities to find safe harbor- so yep, tool kits and trying to think of as much preventative maintenance as possible prior.- ChuckN

I got to thinking about some of the earlier 68-72 trucks have blue bowties that would match my truck but I imagine it wouldn’t fit my 85-87 grille. If I’m wrong, please let me know. Sorry to the OP for the hijack. -

Chevy C10 "Build"
I think it just depends on your goals- that seems wild to me to go that far, but lots of us have “Hot Rod Garage “ dreams where high end parts get thrown at it nonstop. I think I fall more into the Vice Grip Garage or Roadkill category (forgive the show names, it shows what I watch mostly haha)...- ChuckN

Which is the correct fuel tank ?
Sorry to hijack, but would that mean my ‘81 short bed single tank would be 20 gallons then? Or did they sometimes put in a single 16? Just curious, I never really let it get too low since the ethanol free station is only a couple miles away.- ChuckN

New crate engine oil priming/ ignition timing impact if the distributor is mis-installed
@1lejohn @mavtricks71 I was about to say Royal Purple break in oil would likely be fine, but I went and looked up the ZDDP content (the part that is critical for flat tappet cams) and it was surprisingly low, 1150 ppm zinc. How is everyone making their wiring look not a mess under the hood.?
I tried to find a picture that showed the rewiring of the ‘54 3100 when I did it, but couldn’t find a good one. I used Painless wire loom, came in a box that had all kinds of different diameters. It worked well and was easy to work with. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the look- the shiny...- ChuckN

Yeah, that’s the plan- I’d like to keep it going for around five years, until I can get the bodywork done and then the plan after that would be a big block and maybe something like a Gearstar transmission. -

Great question, and I don’t take it that way at all. Mostly it’s because it has all the red white and blue colors on it and checkered flags and stuff, the Mobil even says NASCAR on it. What have you done to your square lately??
Changed the oil today. After some reading, the closest affordable synthetic alternative to 20w50 VR-1 is Mobil 1 15w50. High ZDDP content (more than 1300ppm Zinc and Phosphorus) and reasonably priced at O’Reillys- 30% discount for 6 quarts or more. Used a K&N Gold filter as well.
