Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

I did find the 20 amp fuse ad it is still good. I got aother ocutre though. In the top of this there is another spot for the igntition but I don't think it's a fuse. looks more like a relay or something like that? I hope the picture is good enough

How this is the crimping tool I've always used. I don't see a pin on mine. Do I need something different? Also before I buy the part, does 14 gauge sound right to you?

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

Still no power to the distributor. No power to the starter motor yet either. Still thinking about the fuel pump. I did a bit of sidework clearing snow and might have a paycheck coming sooner than I thought so I may want to do an OK pump sooner then later. Getting wiring figured out for the...

https://www.americanclassic.com/1973-91-Engine-Wiring-Junction-Block/productinfo/52-961/ This one looks like it might be right. And for the fusible link itself? https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7821344?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google Would something like this work?

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

I'm going to get the fusible link, but I can't find one that goes in the box like that anywhre. Is there a different name for it? And is there a standard amparage the is used?

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

Ok, yeah that does make sense. The seller didn't have much info on the truck. He only owned it for a couple of years. About how much $ and where would be a good place to get hose and a good pump? If I do go that route I'm guessing it would be a bit more expexnive and I'd proably need to wait a...

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

I'll have to see. I'll probably focus on getting the truck running, but I assume that having a return hose might also help with gas mileage? I'm not actually sure what vapor lock is but it doesn't sound very good. The biggest thing for me is having a truck that will last for a while, but some of...

Yeah I ordered that as well. In the future is like to see if they have a battery run heat gun. For now I can use an extension cord but it would be nice for sure.

Yeah I think tha they are the original fuel lines. Thanks for the link. I'll have to look into that before long. Not sure how a return hose would work with two tanks if I eventually ge tthe second tank working too

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

This is what I have on my mechanical pump. I can't beleive how tight it is, I can see why they switched over to electric but hopefully when I get a new one it can be smaller and have more room. I only saw 2 attachment places. One threaded and one not but I also couldn't see super well. I stuck...

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

I got them ordered. Not sure when they'll show up but hopefully the once I got hold me over. I got the fusible link wires taken care of. The link itself had a wire that used to be attached to it but was cut off. I tried to get it in the picture. While getting a wire brush to clean up the...

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

Thanks for the link! I'll proably get these ordered today. I found some cheaper everstart connectors that I already have that might be able to do the job for the fusible link, but especially if I got moe wiring I'll be doing, like I said I'd like to do things right.

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

For sure. I definitely like fixing things the right way when possible, It always saves a lot of headache in the long run. I'll have to see in the next couple of days, I'd prefer to get slightly better if it makes a difference, especially if to high pressure could mess with the carb, fixing a...

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

The pump right now pulls from one tank. I assume the other tank isn't set up because the refill cap is screwed into the truck so I can't open it. That's something I'll wan to fix later for sure

Those definitely look like better crimp connectors to me. You just pick those up at an autoparts store? I'll look for a diagram as well

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

Sorry, that was a very confusing message. There is only one engine. I meant going to the back of the engine, not another engine. and yes there is a plow mounted on the front, I'll get a picture in a bit, no salt spreader yet. And I'll look into the mechanical pump as well. If it isn't too...

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

Also I failed to mention earlier, the secondary battery has the main wires going to the plow, as well as the mess of wires to to the back engine.

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

I tested the wires going to the dist. The yellow one goes to through the firewall (I think I was wrong and that it is the yellow one that goes to the ignition but not sure. I follow the red wire and it goes into a a rather large wrap and all the wires come out connencting to what I have a...

Fixing a jimmy rigged electrical system

Haha, I was wondering what that extra oil filter looking thing was for. I guess that's probably the pump. Once I got the thing running sounds like I should jump on that pump next Picture 1, The wires shown are black, I don't see any that are bare. Picture three, I'll order a better crimping...

Yeah. Eventually would a mechanical pump be a lot better? I don't know what the pump plate is, but I'm definetly not used to deisel engines. It's nice being able to learn more
