    if you get one for a manual transmission you shouldnt need the vss/hall effect input. The ecm isnt water proof so you need to mount it where it wont get wet.

    that could be brakes moving in the drums also. the ecm for the 4l80 can be a 0411 ecm from any vehicle send it and have the new bin file uploaded. The ecm can be bought from a junkyard for $35+ then the cost of the bin change. or pull one from an older diesel truck with a 4l80.

    Id love to have a garage that size but would have to move west of where I currently am and still not sure I could afford the property. one big door that swings or slides to one direction would be hell on hinges and casters. You could do 2 sliding doors like on a house so you can get in one side...

    Make sure its tuned up fix the choke issue make sure brakes arent dragging. follow another truck slow down make sure tire pressures are up buy a cheap commuter install a 5 speed efi propane injection and engine rebuild/head swap for needed compression. they just arent good on gas... the gmt400...

    I would prefer to use a roller cam block to build an engine, then you can use GM roller lifters that have been used gm engines since 87ish, most sbc's with these dont have roller lifter issues. The 454 roller cam engines used lifters that werent built for performance and cant tolerate high lift...

    The rust by the ps ttop on the roof looks like its though which means water in the roof... interior shot, possible roof/a pillar rust, unknown engine/trans condition, not a rare car... sounds to me like a parts car.

    daily driving a 30 yr old vehicle will have problems to work through, it will also decrease value of the nice find you have. I would keep a cheap reliable vehicle while attempting to dd an older vehicle until it has proven itself reliable enough to not cause you to miss work or cost money to repair.

    if this is true then you can use the 96-99 vortec pumps (ep381) for the sniper as those pumps are rated for stock ls engines. Oh and it fits in the efi hangar for our trucks with no mods.

    mine had one of the studs for the exhaust manifold break, I was later told that is a common problem of the 4x4s..maybe something to keep in mind.

    79 Trans am

    Correct, I wasnt there when it was applied to see it go on clean bare metal but it is flaking off just like it is on my friends malibu that we we stripped to bare metal with a wire wheel. It should have had plenty to bite into and it still peeled. We used this on a 4.5" grinder.

    keep an eye open at swap meets, I bought a 31" alum 2 core radiator for $100, to use in an old truck. It wouldn't fit the gmt400 platform so its in my garage.

    79 Trans am

    When in doubt use both - etching,epoxy,sealer, paint. It was applied on my vette over clean metal and is flaking off, same result on my friends Malibu we did. I was told to add hardener to it when spraying on so it acts like paint but havent tried it.
