    Bumper guards

Let me think of a fair price and I'll get some pics.

    Bumper guards

The shape of the bumper changes from '81 on. Not quite sure how different they are. I have a very nice set from here in the desert off a '73. I was going to put them on mine but might sell them.

    LS Swap AC Location

It is a strange phenomenon. It is intriguing to me that some vehicles can have such a problem and others to not.

    LS Swap AC Location

In case anyone wonders, I've always got a noticeable 'boom' from the dash after the compressor was running for a few seconds after the car was sitting for a while. Clicking it on and off a couple or three times eliminates the issues (with my particular car when it has the issue). It can't be a...

    LS Swap AC Location

You can get compressor 'slugging' with low mounted compressors. Truth be told, some GM vehicles did it with high mounted compressors too, like my old B-body (Caprice). There are aftermarket fixes for the most trouble prone...

    Tilt steering question

You do need the tilt column switch. As you've found out, they work backwards. The reason being is the rod from the lock assembly moves in the opposite direction between the two columns.

    Choke light on automatic transmission?

    That's a good question. My '78 292 L6 has an electric choke and so did my '78 305 2bbl. My '78 C20 has a 100MPH speedometer.

    Choke light on automatic transmission?

The choke light is operated by an oil pressure switch. The purpose is to verify the electric choke heater is plugged in. It is supposed to function as follow; Key on before starting - Choke light illuminates because of no oil pressure Key on, engine started - Choke light goes off as soon as...

Tying Saddle Tanks with a T?

The 3 port valve leaks on my '78. As soon as one tank is empty, you are done. Sometimes fuel will move between them on its own too, while it is just sitting.

    Questionable Engineering

Watching a young gunner simply clear the main gun of a Bradley is amusing enough, barring all the colorful language.

I could choke a GM engineer!

Sadly, I think these stupid heater hose connections were/are all about the fastest possible assembly as the powertrain is fitted into the body. I had to replace one in our 3100 V6 when I had the upper intake off. I bought the replacement, but was positive I was going to end up in the same place...

    292 I6 Restart Trouble

Mine is awful. You can hear it percolating after it is off when it is 100 degrees here. I have some interesting heat shields to put on mine, but haven't done it yet. I think they were from an '80.

    Show your daily driver

Got 2 right now, since we bought the daughter a new Kia (1st non-GM car) for being a straight A student in H.S. (Mom promised it). 1984 Caprice I bought new and 1992 Century bought from elderly friend.

    Is a 85 700r4 ok?

Drove it to work today, actually only at 288K miles. I actually took the long way there troubleshooting to find the switch, I should have been more perceptive. I had seen some odd resistances and voltages, so I assumed (you know what happens) the TCC harness in the transmission was damaged. I...

    Is a 85 700r4 ok?

I'm now at 289K on a very early '84 that I bought new when I was 20 years old. It has always thrown off very little clutch material in the 1/2 dozen times I've had the pan down. Lost the converter lock up a few years ago, and that typically killed the very early transmissions (I think it was...

1981 Motorhome - Whats under its... err.. tunnel?

I was assuming a Class A, Chevy powered this whole time. The thought of a class C hadn't crossed my mind or the idea of a Dodge class A or C. IIRC Dodge exited the class A business when the 440 went out of production. IIRC, Ford jumped in and out of the class A business too, but in the later...

Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

Oh, the saga of the A-Body... My recollection of the A-Body starts with the intermediate (Chevelle, LeMans, F85, Special/Skylark) as the RWD cars with frames for 1964. This lasted until 1982, when the RWD A-Bodies were renamed G-Bodies. The 1982 A-Bodies were the new, FWD cars (Celebrity, 6000...

Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

You are welcome! B bodies were RWD Caprice/Impala, Catalina/Bonneville (except 82 and later), Delta 88 and LeSabre. The C bodies were RWD (through '84) Olds 98, Buick Electra/Park Avenue and Cadillac DeVille.

Will a sb Chevy interchange with a Buick?

As a B-body guy, I'm still excited to see what the OP has, but the original choices are not good. Base is the 3.8L (231) Buick V6, with electronically controlled Dualajet. There is the optional 4.1L (252) Buick V6 with electronically controlled Quadrajet. This one blows head gaskets. The V8...

1981 Motorhome - Whats under its... err.. tunnel?

Typically a Turbo 400. Don't know how you would identify a Turbo 475, since the difference is internal. Never seen one myself (or heard one, I suspect they have a howl to them).
