    G30 van question

I'm at a complete loss on both these. I didn't think that style choke made it out of the 70s in the Chevrolet division.

    Economy TBI for 292

Finally getting around to building my economy TBI for my 292 L6. Got the manifold and a throttle body. In case that unit looks small, it is. This is the 2.8/3.1 V6 unit. With the original 1bbl being only rated at 250 CFM, I think the smaller unit is more appropriate for a stock 292. I...

    Factory speaker location????

Nope, (outgoing) air vent. Novel idea, how does it work?

    Bed swap compatibility

Last year without filler doors is '78, but I would be concerned about all the running changes, especially with a '73. With that said, I don't know.

New guy in OH, bought my second truck in 3 months! (Help?)

Wow! The '85 is really nice, though I am partial to your '79. I thought the '85s were all ready rusted when I left Ohio in '84!

    1994 tbi 350 swap

That does look like nice stuff at good prices. I've been building mine myself. I'll have to take some pics if I finish it today. My donor harness was a '93 dual A/C Surburban. Talk about extra wiring to remove! This is what I started with; Unless you love this sort of thing (like me), Larry's...

    Trans fluid change

Absolutely! Seems like some are already on the filter pipe, as you have seen, and others will be in the package, ready to install. Some people can do a lot of damage to the bore trying to get the old seal out. Forgetting an o-ring (T400) or the seal (700R4) on the filter can be a memorable...

    Buzzer for headlights

That's a buzzer, not the optional chime. Everything should be there to plug in a chime, if you can find one. If you pull the buzzer, there should be extra terminals under it that are unused. I'm transferring my knowledge from various GM car lines of the era, so there is a remote chance that the...

    Buzzer for headlights

Does the fasten seat belt light still work? Part of the same unit and some were unusually 'fragile', IMHO.

    Trans fluid change

The OP will have a Turbo 400 if a 3 speed (probably not), and a 700R4 with 4 speed automatic. Just watch the o-ring or seal on the filter pipe in either of these transmissions. I'm a big fan over changing over the Dexron VI as GM says is fully reverse compatible.

    1985 Silverado K30 w/454 correct a/c compressor??

Excessive high pressure is a lack of cooling on the high pressure side of the system, i.e. poor air flow over the condenser, internal condenser issue, blockage, or an over charge, not a compressor problem.

    What is this?

Cool, a picture of one on the side of the 292. My '78 w/T400 didn't have one.

New dash pad from Cheyenne Pickup

I wondered how the speaker grills were covered. That looks good!

    What is this?

That's good! I was concerned you were in for some surprises.

    What is this?

Yes, hydroboost, 1 ton system. I was guessing an engine swap too, as the fan blade is so far out of the shroud, as a BBC fan shroud is too short for a little SBC.

    What is this?

The hood springs and cowl aren't '79 either, so it may take some sorting out.

    What is this?

I wasn't sure of the purpose of the relay, but that is definitely a picture of a SBC, not a 454.

Has Anyone Bought This A/C Compressor?

GM / Delphi sold off the rights many years ago (last model year of use is now 23 years ago), so they are 'aftermarket', no matter what label is on them. There have always been rumors about different grades of them afterwards, but it is hard to say. All I can think of (being the R4), is 'the...

    Is This (Crappy) Connector Necessary?

I believe it is to make the harness 'modular' i.e. where the engine mates together with the body. Mine had gotten hot enough before replacing with crimp connectors (soldered and with heat shrink, slid inside the original plastic connector) that the 10 gauge wire was contacting the compressor...

R4 to Sanden whith stock ac lines(for serpantine)

That's a great conversion, there wasn't a GM compressor more poorly suited to a dual air Suburban than an R4, especially with R134a. I'd considered a GM V5 compressor, but the reversal of the suction and discharge ports was a problem. Do you have the compressor mounted inverted with the...

What year was this from? Anything in the overlay for the other two positions?

    250 I6 with Offenhauser 3x2s!

After years of delay, I'm finally starting my TBI project for my 292 L6. The stumbling block for me was always $300+ for a manifold. Finally found a deal on a nice, used one.

Is my AC compressor sized up?

If turning it on nearly stalls the engine, and all is good when turning it off, it is internal to the compressor. The pulley bearing would be an issue any time the engine is turning.

    Need opinions: DIY TBI Tuning

I'm following this one with great enthusiasm. I finally got an Edelbrock intake manifold for my 292. I plan to run a '427' ECM with 2.8 / 3.1L TBI using 305 injectors. I'm no novice at electronics and computers, but I know I will have a lot to learn with tuning.
