Need a GPS odometer solution. Stipulations: Must be inexpensive, yet high-quality and functional. Speedometer function would be nice too, but not a deal breaker.

Can't get idle down AFTER re-activating choke:

i think i got it: If we scroll down to the third picture and focus on the top half of that picture: http://vetteworks.tripod.com/qjet.htm What i did was to adjust the choke ROD by bending it (making it more straight really) so that the "triangle thing" ( i think the correct term is coil...

Can't get idle down AFTER re-activating choke:

Ok, as it turns out, the choke lever and thus fast idle cam WERE NOT going down all the way----it stayed on the very last step of the fast idle cam apparently; It APPEARED as if they both went down all the way, but upon further inspection they did not. (even though the choke plate itself...

    Help i dont understand

Sorry it took so long to respond----busy. The 11/32" is the float level setting. This has to be set with the top of the carb off and the rebuild kit should have more detailed instructions on how to set it and the kit should include a gage---really a mini-ruler. The 24 degrees is the amount...

Can't get idle down AFTER re-activating choke:

i can't get the idle down to normal in drive since i reactivated the choke. (new quadrajet) 1) i had wired the choke AND fast-idle cam completely open last summer, because i needed the truck running asap and didn't have time to mess with this back then. And it ran great with idle in...

    Salt:

Ok, so i think i'm going to hold off on driving it for a while.

    Salt:

Is roadsalt in and of itself harmful to cars? The roadcrews around here put down salt BEFORE it snowed. Is this harmful to the truck if it hasn't been mixed with any moisture----snow, rain etc.?

    Best alternators:

i'm probably going to go with an ac delco or remy delco unit. i'm just putting this in here for notes: http://www.chevyhardcore.com/tech-stories/ignition-electronics-efi/right-size-your-charging-system-and-keep-your-battery-at-the-ready/

    1) What are some good quality alternators? 2) What is the best alternator, money no object?

Need a key on 12V source:

So anyways, i did end up jumpering the 2 prong plug and everything works great. Now, would anyone know where i can get the little white plastic plug thing that plugs into the choke coil. Mine either broke and fell off or just fell off. The metal clip from the power wire that connects to...

Need a key on 12V source:

So anyways, to go off topic here are other differences between the 4.3 and v-8 small blocks: Also, i will prestate that mine did not come with oilpan, valve covers, timing cover. i don't know if the newer, balance shaft 4.3 crates come with these. i would have to research that. 1)...

Need a key on 12V source:

i think some people are concerned that if they have to spend a considerable amount of time cranking until the engine starts that the choke will open a little too much? Because if it's wired to key on power, then while the engine is cranking, the choke is receiving power? In my case, my...

So what's the best way to jumper this plug?

Need a key on 12V source:

This is what i have done as well. i think i am going to just jumper the plug that fits over this sensor. The fact that the choke is going to be engergized while i'm cranking the engine is of little concern to me because it doesn't get THAT cold here and the engine starts pretty quickly...

Need a key on 12V source:

Actually, i should probably back up and say that when i first swapped in the first 4.3 (the first 4.3 i bought from a private owner and it pretty soon became apparent that the engine was junk, so i went and got a reman chevrolet performance 4.3 which is what i have now and it runs great) the...

Need a key on 12V source:

i'm thinking the circuit on the fuse panel that says "choke" is probably where i need to be looking?

Need a key on 12V source:

On 4.3's, the oil filter pad is a little different than a v-8's (not sure why) and the filter is actually different than an 8 (also not sure why?) the diameter is a little smaller, i think a delco P51 or P52 or something. So the sensor's head actually interferes with the pad. All i need is a...

Need a key on 12V source:

This is pretty much what i want to do for now. But where does this pink/wht wire start? P.S. i don't know if this matters, but my truck is an 83 which originally came with the 305 (83's never had the 4.3) and i later swapped in the 4.3.

Need a key on 12V source:

It's getting colder and i think i've run out of slots on the fuse panel for a 12V source for the choke; i cannot yet run this off of the 2-prong plug near the oil filter because 4.3's are actually a little different in that area (the sensor is too short whereas on a v-8 it would work) and i...
