Would anyone happen to know the return line hose size that comes off the mechanical fuel pump?
NOT the actual metal return line that runs all the way back to the tank, but the rubber hose(that runs from the mechanical pump) that CONNECTS to the metal return line back to tank.
i'm trying to...
i am going to temporarily suspend my withdrawl, only for a moment:
Not only do i withdraw from this thread, i CONDEMN this thread.
Ok, NOW officially withdrawn from the thread.
Yeah, but i wanted to rub it in that i was insulted that it was implied that my answer wasn't a "good suggestion." :D
Hey look, those cadillac ambulances MAY have had 5x5 wheels and thus you could put larger rubber on them since this was (the installation of a 14 bolt rear in a B-body) for...
Anyone know where i can find the float settings, IN PRINT, for carb # 1708646? This is a quadrajet off of a 4.3 v-6.
It's probably 13/32", but i want to make sure.
i checked the 86 service manual, but that carb# isn't listed. (?) This was the general service manual for all light trucks...
So, as long as the stove doesn't leak, no smoke will get inside the room?
You'll have to forgive me as i've only worked with electric and kerosene; It doesn't get "hard-core" cold here, and, if it does get cold, i don't work in the garage........:(
This is a tough one. The only thing i can think of is some cadillacs had the 14 bolt rears----for like ambulances and stuff. So they might be 5x5 bolt pattern?
i heard/read that fuel pressure regulators should be located as close as possible to the carb. If so, why? And, how close is close? Is the firewall good? Fender? Or right on the intake?
a) If on the intake, then could i get some mounting ideas?
b) Also, could i get some good gauge ideas...
If this were my truck, i would replace the engine right off the bat, since it's 30 yrs old, and have something new and fresh to start off with.
But since you want to try to get a little more out of this engine, i wonder if the timing and/or the carb might be causing it to run rough and stall...
Glad to hear some are having success with the Sniper.
But it's unfortunate to hear the high number of complaints about sniper; i was really leaning towards the new direct quadrajet throttle body replacement kit.
i guess i'm sticking with stock GM TBI for now, if i do decide to go injection.
If the curb idle set screw is barely touching the throttle, then make sure ALL vacuum ports are used and if some are not used, make sure these are plugged properly.
(this coming from someone who care barely tune their own carb................)
If he really has the jig (they are about $600), then yes this is a legit procedure. But then you have to make sure there is a lobe on the cam for a mechanical pump. Running an electric pump is not a big deal these days.
1) This is NOT video i saw, (i'm still looking for that one) but it's interesting as hell:
2) To Paul:
i'm not saying you should to this/that or whatever. i'm just saying this is what I"M going to do: Eventually, i want to build a 400 based engine, but i'm going to go with a NEW chevy...
As i read your first sentence, how did i guess you were going to mention ups freight???!!! :( They are horrible, not to mention late........
i am happy with R+L though. They delivered the engine that is now in my truck.
My gut feeling is yes, you can do it; all the other trans bolt holes (we hope) are undamaged so i'm thinking if you bolt a trans to the block, this would give you a guide as to where to drill and retap (?).
i saw a video on repair-welding an iron block, but don't remember off hand the title...
You know, i am serious considering this, not because i'm opposed to working on my cars, but because i really don't have TIME to.
GM certified used comes with good warranties.
