    Anyone Paint Their Rims Black?

i have all white, so that won't help you (were originally same as body color--- brown, but i painted them white). However, i might suggest painting the wheels black BUT leaving the very edge of the rims SILVER. Say maybe 1/2 inch or so. That might look sharp. Hard to explain in words...

    Help stop theft 87 V10

My question was why is black or heavy set relevant to a truck getting stolen? What if the thief was bald, had tatoos, had a mustache etc.? What about blood type A, B, C etc. What about left-handedness vs. right handedness?

    Automatic/Remote start 350 tbi

The thing about the carb systems is there is no (way to) kickdown? Or is there? A remote start for Fuel injection maybe, but for the carbs it just seems too complicated---what about going out there starting it up and then going back inside? i don't know, i guess it doesn't get that cold...

    Help stop theft 87 V10

    1) Not trying to start anything here, but i'm not sure what black has to do with anything............? 2) Now for the OP, theGolem, if you want to get started on killswitches, but are nervous, what i used to do (and should probably keep doing) is i would disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable...

    Bolt in electric fans?

Just wondering if there are any bolt in electric fan units available? i've seen the ones from Be Cool and that's a little too expensive for me since i'll only need the fan in traffic. Any others? The cavalier fan from the salvage yard doesn't work, so i'm looking for something new.

Show me your electric fan conversion

Ok, fan no good. Pics coming asap of the otherwise good installation---i used a SPAL wiring kit and Edlebrock lighted toggle. Can anyone recommend a bolt-in unit?

Never mind---i found this video and by the way the fan with the shroud is the exact one i have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct61o4uFMa4

Show me your electric fan conversion

How to test an electric fan? i can hear the relay click when i hook/unhook the battery. i have power to the relay on constant 12V. The toggle switch which is wired to key on 12V does light up when the key is on. The ground from the fan is to the frame and is pretty solid. So i think...

Show me your electric fan conversion

Concerning salvage yard fans: Are the GM electric fans reversible? In other words, can they push or pull depending on which way you wired them? i''ve just finished installing and wiring my fan (out of a 2004 cavalier). But the fan doesn't work. The toggle switch lights up (i'm only...

Engine Recipe Needed_ '83 350 Work Truck

This is not sage advice, it is just my opinion: If you want something that meets all 5 requirements, then a crate engine is the most efficient way to go. Yes, i was a scrounger too, but no more; i mean it's a 30 yr old engine---not saying it can't be rebuilt/manufactured, BUT a crate is...

    Project 383

Would iron heads be better for towing than aluminum? i think the iron vortecs are great, but i figure if you're going to buy new heads you may as well go aluminum.

    ET's!

So i guess the next step would be traction bars. i would not race a truck, but if i did race with a leaf spring car i would install ladder bars, first using housing floaters and keeping the stock springs. Then installing coil overs. Then eventually maybe tubbing out.

    ET's!

i'm just stock 2WD. i do have the "heavy duty" springs though. Not exactly sure what the logic was behind that being that i have 2.56 diff gear? The truck can support the weight, it just can't move it!

    Hickey Enterprises

    1) i love the drop hood and i think a company repros it: http://autofab.com/i-18131106-1973-80-chevy-truck-blazer-drop-center-hood.html 2) Didn't Vic Hickey "invent" the Blazer?

    ET's!

It's an 86 and i think it really needs to be rebuilt. It should probably produce an ET close to the 305 and i'm not expecting anything fantastic. That 305 produces i think 10 lbs more torque AND at about 400 lower rpm. The 4.3 might have a little bit more HP on the top end (155 vs. 140) and...

Crew cab, short bed, half ton, 4wd project idea. Input requested.

Can't you just put the crew cab on the single cab frame and shorten the box? Or weld extentions to the rear of the frame? Seems much easier than shortening the frame. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRdpinR-m7Q i've always found that truck to be inspiring. Ok, maybe not the...

Are the 6.2 diesels a good engine?

If i could expand on the topic, i have a few questions of my own: i see you can buy a brand new 6.5 from gm (made by international or AM general?) for about 6 thousand. And i'm not at all ruling this route out. 1) Is rebuilding a 6.2/6.5 pretty straightforward like rebuilding a small block (i...

    2bbl to 4bbl adapters

i know this is an older post, but just to reply to the topic in general i was recently using a Rochester 2G on a stock quadrajet manifold for a 4.3: The reason why i did this was because i like the 2G and wanted to learn more about it and experiment more with it. i didn't want to change...

    Valve stems:

Ok, so it seems that there are generally only 2 diameters (i'm not really concerned about length) ? And half tons as well as most cars take the smaller diameter? The 413 or 414 would probably work.

    Valve stems:

What size valve stems would fit stock rims? (Mine is 83 1/2 ton, but would assume 73-87 1/2 tons were all the same diameter hole?)

    8.5 mpg

Please explain, in great detail, how you arrived at 8.5 mpg? i also agree with RN in that it's not so much the model of carb (although i think the q-jet ultimately probably gets the best mpg), it's what you're comfortable with and which carb is tuned the best. For example, i have 2 quads...
