Need the pu
Depending on application may need the pump for AC doors or cruise. Unsure if a GM diesel was made with vacuum power brakes but that's another one.
Usually Rock auto has a good selection with known brands but not this time. Just looked they have lars and BBB whoever they are and Cardone. Provided you're not doing damage by pounding on the pully I would buy a seal and be done with it. Been dealing with this crap for at least 20 years. Much...
Best to replace with new but I have reused them provided they go on the same side and not turned over. Of course, clean surfaces. Visual match will work, I have a drawer with small brake parts and save any extras.
Just be sure to check for leaks like anyone should do after a repair.
Most balancers have a safety shield of some sort. Maybe it won't clear? Another possibility is just that they don't want to do it. Tires that size [weight] usually take 2 people to mount them on the arbor. Takes some effort.
Employees today are lazy, employers are forced to live with it.

Most recycling machines cans are inverted. Refrigerant is dispensed in a manner that won't harm the system.
System can be under vacuum and partially charged from both high and low side. Then close high side, start vehicle and complete the refill. Just a faster way of doing the job.
If the exhaust is causing eyes to water, it is due to excess hydrocarbons [HC] unburnt fuel. GM invested a lot of money designing exhaust systems. Using that as a base line [single to dual] is probably the best option. Out the right side behind the rear wheel.
Might be a good idea to have a...
I was told by a GM rep that Delco wet batteries were designed to take the higher charging voltage of the 90's up trucks. Don't know if that was true or a sales pitch but we got decent service from them given the severe use. Dual batteries lasted about 2 years, alternators 3-5 years.
About the only thing that worked at all on those for me was RTV. 3/16th bead on gasket, set the cover on head, install the bolts to just barely tight. Come back the next day, do a final tighten. Check again in after a couple heat cycles. Spreader bars help a lot.
First gas station I worked at one of those. Don't think anyone ever used it, know I didn't. Might be good garage art.
A Coats 40-40A today is usually less than couple hundred. They are difficult to use with TPMS sensors but can be done if careful.
Open a fuel line after the pump. Usually at the carb. Check pressure by cranking the engine. Should be in the 5-7lb range.
If that checks out ok add a fuel hose into a small container. Crank the engine for 20-30 seconds. There should be 8 - 16 oz of fuel.
If pump fails either test, replace...
2 things I avoid in construction, roofs and foundations, hard work.
Found out in a windstorm same type of roof, screws had backed out. Caught it before the roof was gone. Fun up there in a 60 mph wind trying to install screws.
Very true and I have done just that. Access and labor [customer cost] some circumstances old one stays. Doing jobs by the book in the real world are not always possible.
Channel locks work well by grabbing an edge and prying it out. Not saying a vice grip won't work just tossing out options...
Performance?
A properly adjusted Q jet has good drivability and reasonable economy on a GM motor. Would not classify it as a performance product. Never worked with an Edelbrock Q jet but never heard anything bad about them either. If it runs good............ great.
