Sounds like you are getting your arms around the problem. I finally found someone here that knows what a carb is, so, I think I am on the right track too. I love the sound of a big block V8.

With a 454, I would think 750cfm would be the right size. Do you know what type of cam that you are running?

I currently have a 1405 on my 383. Every calculation that I have done results in a demand for less than 600 cfm. It feels good. If I were to upgrade, I would go to the 650 thunder series. 750 might be a bit much for my cam. I built the engine more for lower rpm torque than high rev hp. The...

Yeah, I think we all tend to over carburate at one point in our lives. 600-650 seems to be the sweet spot for 350-400 cu. in. engines in most street apps unless you are running a very radical cam and looking for top end performance.

Yeah, it has a lot of low end grunt. I built it for torque. Dual plane intake and a 220 cam with about .480 lift. I'm struggling to get the carb dialed in.

That's a nice 'burb. What engine is it?

You raise a point that never occurred to me about the markers. They have been on the car since I bought it. I assumed they were OE. The mirrors I bought here and work fine. They are not, of course, electrically adjustable. When you live outside of the US, the local availability of parts can be...

    Car Stalls Going Downhill

I suspect the reason that it doesn't stall going uphill is that I am running rpms. Going down I am idling. If I keep the revs up going downhill it will keep running. That tends to push me towards the fuel pressure conjecture. I haven't had a chance to put a gauge on it yet, but, I will. If I'm...

I'm a little surprised that nobody commented on the absence of a heater/AC system. Medellin is known as the land of eternal spring. The temperature varies about +/- 10 deg all year long, so I didn't see the need to clutter up the engine bay and add more things to be maintained. The only thing...

The vent windows open fine. That's just a camera angle. The mirrors were a generic purchase here. As far as the side markers, those are OE and they don't blink.

It is a single 25 gal tank. The tank has been full. I just put a new sender in.

    Car Stalls Going Downhill

No, it seems to only do it when I am descending. I've tried to find just uphill routes:).

I forgot to mention that I live in Medellin, Colombia. Finding expertise here is "hit or miss".

Hi, I've been away for a while but I am becoming active again. I have a 78 K5 with a 383 stroker, 4L60 and 4:56 gears 35" tires. I've been working to get it dialed in and have posted a question in the carb section. I'm sure there will be more.

    Car Stalls Going Downhill

I have a K5 Blazer with a 383 stroker. The carb is an Edelbrock 1405, 600cfm. It has begun stalling when I go down a fairly steep hill. I have checked the floats and they seem to be correct. Is this a fuel pressure problem? Has anybody else had this problem?
