    78 K5 Gas Mileage

The problem here is that I hardly ever get into the O/D range. The roads are windy and mostly 2 lanes

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

You live in Austria? Gas is pretty pricey there. Filling the tank must be an event. Here in Colombia premium is about $4,00. I have to get a second mortgage every time I fill it.

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

I guess I didn't read far enough. I see that you have a 350. I learn something every day.

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

Well, it looks like I am not an outlier. I'm going to lean the carb down a little more. I am at 5,000 feet altitude.

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

Do you mean you have never been as bad as 6 mpg or as good as?

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

I just noticed on your profile that you have a V10 burb? What engine is that? A viper?

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

You called it. I forgot to mention that I have a 4.56 gearing with a 4L60. The bump stick is a 218/224 with a .465 lift @.50. I built it for low end torque. And you really called it about the roads here. There aren't many flat ones.

    78 K5 Gas Mileage

My 4 x 4 K5 with 35" tires and a 383 stroker is only getting about 6mpg. How does that stack up with any similar squares?

    Master Cylinder Bore Size

What is the recommended bore size for a master cylinder on a 78 K5? Disc front, drum rear.

    Bending Hood

I'm doing my second hood repair on my 78 K5. I installed an aftermarket brace kit but that just moved the bend point further downstream. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?

    Engine lunched itself...need advise

Try to source a 383 if possible. Same block with way more torque. The price shouldn't be much different.

    tire fitment??

Wow, a 4" lift with 33's and you were rubbing? I have 35's with a 4" lift on my 78 K5. I do, however, have spacers. Maybe that's the difference.

    FNG saying hi

Greetings from Colombia. Nice looking truck. I would be putting a little lift on it and some 35" tires. A 4.11 rear would make it a real stump puller.

    chevy 350/290 crate engine

290hp isn't much, but, you may see better results by lowering the gear ratio. a 2.73 or 3.08 with 31" tires must really be slow accelerating. A 3.73 would make a world of difference. Much lower would probably not be good on the highway with a TH350. An overdrive tranny would be great. When I put...

Poll -Would doing a LS swap in a CLEAN 1987 V10 INCREASE to DECREASE VALUE?

Wow, that looks like a really clean truck.

Poll -Would doing a LS swap in a CLEAN 1987 V10 INCREASE to DECREASE VALUE?

I don't understand your concern about devaluing the truck. Any new or rebuilt engine will add value unless you are into the numbers matching world. As far as whether to go with an LS or 350, it really depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are going old school with carb or TBI, I...

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

Yeah that was mine. It was a 1937. The 47 in my screen name is my birth year. When I bought the car there were some people that said it was not a good project. At that time coupes were the hot thing. When I got done with the customizing, it was a great restorod. And yes, there was a lot of...

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

Good luck with the project. Yes, that Olds was a unique car. Besides the 455 and the 700r4, It had a rack and pinion setup and disks all around. That was a fun car to drive.

    Converting 4L60-E to Turbo 350 with NP241C

Maybe I missed it, but, why change a 4L60 for a TH350? That sounds like a downgrade. I have put 700r4's/4L60's in all my vehicles. It lets me run a lower gear ratio and still have streetability with the overdrive.

455 Olds not lining up well in 76 GMC crew....

Wow, what a great idea putting a 455 in a Chevy. I've always been an Olds guy and have owned several 455's and 400's. I wish I could give you specific advice, but, It looks like you are getting plenty already. In my simplistic brain, it looks like a matter of adjusting the trans crossmember and...

How much HP and Torque for Daily Driver

Yeah, I didn't read his post very well. I agree with what you are saying. Too often people only focus on the engine and not the rest of the drive train.

How much HP and Torque for Daily Driver

You fail to say what engine you currently have. The TQ and HP are just one part of the equation. What rear gear do you have? What diameter tires? What tranny? Just as a general comment, a 383 is a nice mill with a 4l60 or 700r4 (they are the same). The rear gear ratio will be determined by your...

Okay guys. With all of the good feedback, I owe you an update. I finally found a guy here that understands carbs. I bought a rebuild kit and a tune up kit for the 1405 (the third one). He said the stalling problem was over jetting. he installed the correct jet and needle sizes. Three different...
