    Camshaft input from experience.

I haven't been questioned about it, but, I've seen too many guys over carburete their mills. I'll never hit 5,000 and a 600cfm really caiculates well for torque.

Whooie, I just filled my tank today. I'm up to 6 mpg.

    Ring and pinion gear ratio

I went with the 4L60 because I didn't want to mess with electronic controls. This tranny should be good for my 400hp 383. Sounds like you're planning a torque monster. That 4L80 is nearly bulletproof.

Gear ratio advice 14 bolt BBC

Missing a few info points. What is your tire size and tranny fourth gear ratio?

    Ring and pinion gear ratio

Ah, thanks. That makes it a little clearer.

Can you convert 4wd to 2wd... without changing front suspension?

My head hurts trying to understand this. If you are going to convert to 2WD, how will you handle the front diff? I would think that a 2WD straight front axle assembly would be a pretty easy find in a junkyard. You might even be able to get a disc brake setup. As far as the rest, you'll need to...

    '79 Camaro Restomod

Agree wholeheartedly. A BBC is pretty heavy for that car. A 383 opens a lot of possibilities for HP and TQ.

    Ring and pinion gear ratio

I'm having trouble following you. You said initially that you have a 3.73 then later you say 2.73? You don't say what engine you are running so I don't know what kind of torque you are generating. I assume you have a TH350 or possibly 400, so, if you are concerned over 2700rpms at 55mph, a...

    Camshaft input from experience.

This guy is really good at explaining cam selection. I suggest to watch it. My initial impression is that the cams that you listed are more suited to high performance cars. As truck owners, we are typically more concerned about generating torque at low rpms. I have a comp cam hydro flat tappet...

    1977 c10 worth one owner 63k miles

If I were to by that truck, I wouldn't go over 5k and then I would jerk that 305 and put in a 350 or even 383.

Overdrive Trans or Ring and Pinion swap?

Sorry for the multiple posts. I haven't figured this system out yet

Overdrive Trans or Ring and Pinion swap?

I would put in a 700R4/4l60. The gears would depend on your tire size, for example, I am running 4.56 gears with my 4l60 on 35" tires. I am barely above 2500 rpm at 55mph. An added bonus is that this tranny has a very deep 1st gear, so you can take advantage of the low end torque.

Rear Axles, What Changed in 1977 ?

My 78 has a Dana 44 front axle and 12 bolt rear. A previous owner may have changed it, I don't know. It looks like the NP 203 was swapped out for a 205 and wheel hubs added, so, it's possible.

Rear Axles, What Changed in 1977 ?

    This is my 78 with 1 1/2"spacers on 35 x 12.5 x 15 tires. I have a 4" lift and nothing rubs. The front is a Dana 44 and the rear is a 12 bolt.

Rear Axles, What Changed in 1977 ?

Hopefully you will do it correctly and get the bolt on spacers with their own wheel lugs. The cheap spacers that are just shims are dangerous.

Unless, like me, the 350 has been stroked to 383. Then the block number will look like a 350
