Building a free LT1 for my Camaro

I should have watched the video first. It's a carb. Looks like a Demon. What size is it?

Building a free LT1 for my Camaro

That is one sexy engine. I love the valve covers. What carb did you put on it? Or did you go TBI?

Low oil pressure and rough idle

Could be that or engine wear. Another possibility is a clogged oil filter.

Low oil pressure and rough idle

I've heard suggestions like 10bs/100 cu in. At any rate, I wouldn't drive it with the numbers he is reporting. I'm surprised it isn't make noise.

Need help with oil pressure 87 tbi 350 with TH400 trans 4x4

I have always been taught that oil pressure is like sex. You never get too much.

Low oil pressure and rough idle

Wow, I would be extremely reluctant to drive the vehicle with those oil pressure readings. You should be at least 20 at idle and 30-40 minimum at cruising. I suspect you've got some major issues.

    Few questions about wheels/tires - 79 Stepside

Wow, I love that truck. If you are going to different tire sizes, it is important to take your own measurements. Don't try to rely on a tire and wheel site. Work backwards from your desired tire size and measure all of your clearances, frame suspension etc. Then specify your offset/back spacing...

Bigger tires on 2wd - what to do?

I agree that the stance could be better, but, with the camper top, I would rather raise the front to level it off. That gets away from the "stink bug" look.

Strength of 3 inch C channel???

I have done a lot of structural design work and I am very confident that you are ok with the structure that you built. Also, you have to understand that there are five available sizes of 3 inch channel. They are rated by lbs/ft of weight. It's difficult to identify which you have unless you can...

    Engine lunched itself...need advise

Wow, that's a shame, however, the good news is you have a running truck with a new engine. Hopefully you won't get any more unpleasant surprises.

    Engine lunched itself...need advise

Even if it is just rod bearings, I would be concerned about the debris that may be floating around the engine. Also, I would be surprised if the crank journal wasn't scored. I could see rod bearing replacement as a band-aid, but, I wouldn't expect longevity.

Overdrive Trans or Ring and Pinion swap?

It usually works. You might have to drill a few holes in the frame to relocate the mount.

    Upgrade order

Yeah, I understood your humor. We've all been there. Start adjusting the carb and wind up rebuilding the engine. It's like pulling a thread on a sweater.

    Double Hump thoughts:

I don't know what all of those numbers mean, but, remember, it is a system. You need to match the pistons, cam, and heads with your rpm range. Being a truck, I would assume you want a power band in the 1000-4500 range. If you are going to change heads, it is important to know the specs of your...

    Double Hump thoughts:

To me it depends on the condition. There are some good new budget aluminum heads on the market like Brodix or Promaxx that can be acquired for $800 - 1100 fully built. If you have to machine and buy components for the camel humps, it may not be the best move.

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

Thanks, runs like a scalded dog up to about 4500rpms. The steering is a little vague with the big tires. Maybe a crossover kit would help.

What lift and tires are best for my 1990 Suburban?

This is my 78 K5 with a 4" lift and 35's. It also has 1 1/2" spacers all around. I have a 4L60 with 4.56 gears running the 383. It's producing about 400hp and a little more tq.

    Best Choice for Drivetrain

There are many variables. What are your tastes? You say you aren't going off road. Do you want a fun car with lots of low end torque? Or maybe a something to take to shows? HP bragging rights? My first advice is to reject option #1 unless you are going through the entire engine. Just slapping on...

    1985 Chevy K10 SWB Resoration

Are you keeping the same ride height? Also, if you are going with a crate engine, I would lean toward a little more potent 383. The price difference is mostly negligible and it will be a lot more fun to drive. You might come close to breaking even if you replace the EFI with a carb. We all have...
