    Cooked 700R4 update

Make sure the TV cable is adjusted properly. If not, you will be back in the shop soon.

Definitely a do a rebuild. A competent shop will probably install upgraded components as well. Then you will know what you have

Welcome Kelly. You are unique in Europe with this vehicle. I bet you get a lot of attention. I live in Colombia and daily drive my 78 Blazer. Gasoline here is a little cheaper - $2.50/gal for regular and $4.00 for premium. I mix 3:1 because of the cost. There are clubs here for classic vehicles...

Converted NP203 grinding sound in 2WD

I believe the 203 calls for ATF. I have a 205 and the PO put the wrong stuff in it. It requires 80wt diff oil

    New Guy !!!

You say you have a 700r4 or a TH 350? Are you asking how to identify which? If you have both, the choice of which to use would depend on many factors, including tire size, gear ratio and engine torque.
  9. cstew47

    Can't identify the engine!

I wouldn't generalize. It depends on the tire size and whether the tranny has overdrive. I'm running a 4.56 gear with 35" tires and a 700R4. With my 383 it runs great.

    Mechanical fuel pump beef/info rant

I'm still monitoring the first tankful. I'm also playing with octane. I designed the engine to have a 10:1 CR, but, I have aluminum heads and I'm at 6,000 ft. I have been trying half and half regular to premium and now I'm down to 3:1. So far no pinging. Premium here is double regular.

    Carb Intake Combo 454 Suburban

I don't mean to lecture, but, the carb is only a part of the system. If you are going to do a resto, you should really look at the whole package - carb, intake, cam, gear ratios. If you are just looking to do a carb replacement, an Edelbrock 750 cfm is a pretty trouble free and economical choice.

    Carb intake combo

My Eddy 1405 carb on a Perfomer intake work fine on my 383 stroker. Good torque and response.

Good feedback. I am at 5,000 ft. elevation in a temperate climate, so, hopefully that will mitigate some of those problems.

    Mechanical fuel pump beef/info rant

Well, if you google "symptoms of too much fuel pressure", one of the things that is cited is poor fuel economy. I will keep the group posted as I run this tank down.

    Mechanical fuel pump beef/info rant

Yeah, same here. The pump on my 383 stroker was putting out 8psi to my Eddy 1405. My fuel economy is horrendous (5 mpg in city), so I stuck a regulator on it today. I'm hoping to see some positive results. I think that a regulator is cheap insurance.

    Stalling going uphill

This is a problem that I thought had been fixed. My K5 started stalling out on steeper hills. I had just rebuilt the carb (1405 EDLEBROCK) and it seemed ok, even on normal hills. Lately, I encountered some steeper hills and the engine stalled out. The carb floats are all set to the correct...

My first complete SBC 350 build

Sounds like your CR will wind up around 11:1. Definitely will need 91-93 gas. I don't see any reason that you would need a bigger carb. It would probably be a detriment.
