Help!!! With getting main bearing to roll in

Success!! I even went as far as loosening the flex plate bolts. I kept looking closely and noticed it was the thrust side of the bearing that was hitting the block. It was the inward side. I have been dinking around for hours with this think. About six blows on a counter weight on the crank...

Help!!! With getting main bearing to roll in

Yes that's what I I have found a fourm where a guy had the same problem, he eventually got it, never said how he got it though. Maybe my cotter pin that keeps slipping is too small to roll it in effectively?

Help!!! With getting main bearing to roll in

I have done that. So do you think I need to snug them all back up? They were snug at first and it didn't help. I'm my mind it I thought would allow some tiny, tiny amount of droop. But it seems to not have mattered

Help!!! With getting main bearing to roll in

I rolled out my rear main bearing but can't seem to get the new one in. It hits the block. There .010 bearings like the crank was stamped. I don't have a mic but used my calipers to measure the leading edge of the bearing and it measures the same as the old. I have all main caps loose what are...

Is this going to be an issue. The old rod bearings have a hole on the seam of both half's for some reason, the new ones don't. I don't see why it would matter.

My truck had a bonfire inside the cab last night

Haha yeah!! I almost got in my car yesterday and drove the 3 hours to summit in Atlanta to get rod and main bearings for my 350 cause I ordered the wrong ones and there no longer is real parts stores around that have SBC parts. I decided to just overnight them from RockAuto and work today...

    1977 C10 Police Truck

I wouldn't be anywhere near a vehicle that was not police owned and me not an officer. Not having a decal on it not even covered with a magnetic decal of another form, not riding around with a fake LE decal inside the cab. How do you explain that one in just a routine stop if an officer see it...

    1977 C10 Police Truck

They don't ride around with BLUE ones on non LE vehicles. I'm going to agree and say this is 100% bad idea unless it's a trailered show queen. Look up the motorcycle funeral escort guy in Florida Jeremy something is his name. Although the wants to appear as a LE officer. Keeps getting arrested...

My truck had a bonfire inside the cab last night

As a volunteer fire fighter responded to a house fire where a pile of rags from a remodel combusted and smoked up the house they were lucky no real damage was done and we got there in time to save everything.

My truck had a bonfire inside the cab last night

Yep you can't leave a boiled linseed oil soak rag balled up, it will spontaneously combust!! People who show it on you tube about shining up your junk almost never mention it!. Really dangerous stuff. Throw that rag outside, soak it in water and leave it or just set it on fire in a safe spot...

    Smog Pump

Move out of California like everyone one else:patriot::party36::anitoof: No but seriously I haven't seen one other than in pictures or YouTube videos. Mine originally was smogged but the only sign of it now a days is the plugs in the exhaust manifold. No clue where it even bolted on the engine:33:

    Help identify these bearings.

Don't you call it undersize bearings as the crank is ground down so the journal is undersized of std. I guess the oversize bearing size also makes sense as it will be thicker than standard shell.

    Help identify these bearings.

I have heard and read about the bad cam bearings. I'm sure there worn as well. But all these bearings show lots of wear so it won't hurt the oil pressure to swap them out. We will do this and see what I get.

What have you done to your square lately??

I created a thread so I guess I should send folks to the link instead of having two places I asked the question. I posted a pic of the crank where it was stamped. Follow it over there and I will have more pics there. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/help-identify-these-bearings.35305/

That one that's -30 is a main bearing. I should of specified that. I want to know the size bearings cause I'm doing the shade tree fix of rolling in new bearings and replacing the rods to try to increase my oil pressure.

Here is the same rod bearing. I don't have a micrometer so this is my next best thing. Tried to have the inner measurer on the outer edges and not apply any pressure. From looking up it appears stock journal size is 2.1" so if this is remotely accurate this measures .010 over or undersize I...
