What is the best oil viscosity to run in a 292 Inline-six with high miles?

I figured as much in all these cases. I have the vulnerable known sludge producing 3.0L in the Highlander. So it gets full synthetic oil and 5000 mile changes max. And on the vvt line of conversation I did have the #1 bank solenoid go bad on it. On the way to work it started stumbling and was...

What is the best oil viscosity to run in a 292 Inline-six with high miles?

I too use it in wet clutch ATVs lawnmowers, generators, Tractors , old K10. Cuts down on the amount of types of oil I keep around. I have run a lot of rotella, dello, and lots of Tractors supply company house brand Traveller brand. It was certification CJ for several years longer than other...

    Can't identify the engine!

I will have to look through my pictures I took of it. I can't remember but I took pics of the front one and then the back one I believe

    Can't identify the engine!

I can't figure mine out. The number on the pad or block doesn't come back to anything in the lists. I have seen several threads with the same numbers I have and I saw some people say maybe it was a factory crate engine or a replacement? The numbers are plain as day, I have perfect vision and...

    Weird knock under load

I should also add, that's assuming you have a good and fully charged battery.

    Weird knock under load

No, that's probably cause your timeing is all wonkey. Or a weak starter.

    Weird knock under load

My indicator doesn't work. It's just pulled over from a little cable connected to the needle from the steering column . Also has a return spring. The trans can shift flawlessly without that indicator moving. I have to just count the spots I move the shifter or by feel. So don't focus on that needle.

Can you de smog a motor with a stock carb?

Look at his other thread on knock under load. There is something seriously wrong with that engine! As to answer. You can cap off all that stuff and run a factory carb. As for the low idle that is probably just a carb adjustment and or vacuum leak type situation. But the smog stuff, deleting it...

    Weird knock under load

That for SURE IS NOT SPARK KNOCK!! Something in that engine is about to let go. Possibly leading to a window mod to the block. I would pull that motor and or swap it with another one.

    Weird knock under load

My first thought was spark knock too just by his description. I have not watched the videos though. My work F150 is a 2020 with the 5.0 and that is the most spark knockingest thing I have ever driven. Underload when low in the rpm range it will go to town.

Can someone school me on carpet

Yep I am cheap but am at the point where I'd rather pay more for quality than doing it 2x and or it looking crappy and still failing early. I think what I failed to get to but was also a point. And I don't remember if I wrote it. But if and or when I replace what's left of my carpet I will just...

Can someone school me on carpet

If the cowl leaked down the firewall the carpet and pad got wet and held water. It will have some amount of rust. Hopefully it won't be bad. You can wire wheel the rust down put some rust converter down and then paint it with some rust inhibiting paint. Just make sure you fix where the water...

Desperately look for this trim piece

I pulled all the side trim and can trim off anyway. Mine was dented, flapping, falling off, and causing rust to come from the holes. I never liked the way it looked.

Desperately look for this trim piece

I ripped mine off cause I thought it was cheap after market. It was yellowing , delaminating and splitting

What is the best oil viscosity to run in a 292 Inline-six with high miles?

Just for others reading this oils like rotella 15w40 are also rated for spark ignition vehicles as well. I don't think the most recent rating since most of those are really thin weight oils but all the older ones they rate it for. API certification that is

What is the best oil viscosity to run in a 292 Inline-six with high miles?

There still a good bit higher than conventional car oils

What is the best oil viscosity to run in a 292 Inline-six with high miles?

96k is not high miles. You sure it's not 196 or 296? I'd say 40w is too thick unless it's worn out. I'd go with 15w 40 diesel oil . Starts in cold easy and plenty thick for hot weather.

Need help on 79 front brakes

My thoughts are something wrong with the master cylinder as well. Rusty rod, bent or something similar. Like you said assuming everything else is installed and correct.

What have you done to your square lately??

Been useing PB blaster for years. Some love it some hate it. It's been around decades. I like it cause it penetrates as good as any I have used and stays oily for a long time unlike things like WD40
