    Sounds like a BBC would qualify as an engine replacement. It was offered as a factory option. And if it is true that BBC in that year model didn't have emissions, according to the excerpt it would not need them if it didn't from the factory. BUT it being California I doubt that is the case.

    If that's an original radiator it's a good one. Have it reworked at a shop, unless it's just too far gone.

    I'm thinking the same. I guess the old one is leaking so bad or causing overheat issues due to being so plugged up with scale? But any functional radiator sized for squares with a v8 should keep that plow truck cool in the sub artic winter up there.

    According to your own screen shot it hold 4 quarts in the pan...which is what I'm talking about. Yea the whole transmission holds more than 4 quarts but you can only get what's in the pan out in a fluid change...which is 4 quarts according to even this screenshot you posted.     Still doesn't make sense, if you think 3 came out of it, you were about 1 lowish. If the pan was extra 2 quarts, you should be 3 more than what you had but it should still only hold 6, the regular 4 plus 2 additional??:33::confused:o_O. A trans will be low in the pan not the convertor or...

    Have you looked at both? As they say swapping cabs is the easiest thing to do. You will need a donor truck anyway. Need the frame, axle, and or axles since gears need to match in both...or regear the current rear or the new front to match. Will need the transmission /t case, both drive shafts...

    It has a drain plug. Really easy to drain some out if needed. Messy but not hard.
