    Radiator overflow nipple broken.. options?

If You do not have the nipple that came out of the neck, go to a recycler, most of those was all the same diameter, take along a torch and remove one from a old radiator, I am sure a recycler would let You have that for free. Take that home and warm it up, wire bruch the crap off of it, then...

    6.2 symptom confirmation

If recon injectors will be required, be sure to take them to the shop and have them test and balance them. I dont remember what the pop pressure should be o these but, I know from reading that, some people have set the pop pressures higher and then they started having problems, especially...

    6.2 symptom confirmation

Take them heads to a shop that does heads, get them cleaned up and magna flux tested for cracks. I believe, if it were Mine engine, I would send them injectors over to Blue Ox and have him test them, and, balance them while He is at it. I have never seen brass like that caused from any kind of a...

HEI Distributor - Do I need to replace any of these parts?

I always used the very lightest lithium grease I could find, and not a whole lot of it. On the weights base, the portion with the posts, there will be a couple of raised up portions that the weights rest and ride on, give those a light coating too. The advance plate can also bind on the shaft...

HEI Distributor - Do I need to replace any of these parts?

You can tell if the distributor is functioning. Remove it from the engine, place it in a vice, with the coil cover and the sparking plug wires removed, hook up a ground wire between the distributor and a battery neg terminal, then, hook a wire between the distributor + terminal and the battery...

Horn doesn't work and when trying, headlights turn off

Why not just clean the grounding wires between the rad support and the grounding wire, or, add another ground wire from the radiator support to the same grounding bolt as what the battery is attached to on the engine ? Or at least try a jumper wire fron the rad support to the battery ground...

    Considering a M1008 Cucv.... Thoughts

The fuel shut off solenoid on the military vehicles is 24 volt so that would need to also be changed out. Along with the starter.

    Considering a M1008 Cucv.... Thoughts

Come to think of it, a separate circuit can be run from one battery to power anything that is 12 volts. If wires are hooked to the positive and a wire to the negative of one battery then the 12 volt items can be powered. Just have to disconnect those items from the 24 volt system.

    Considering a M1008 Cucv.... Thoughts

It might be possible to find the serpentine belt system from a civilian 6.2 or 6.5 then do the conversion to A/C and a single alternator with that.

    Considering a M1008 Cucv.... Thoughts

6.2 is a good engine. There is a lot of up rated components that can be had for them, nothing much for more power other than a turbo kit. The SB pickups swaps in a Cummins 5.9 quite easily too. Along with an overdrive transmission and those low gears of the differentials, that`d be a pulling...

    New Chevy 5500 4x4 pictures

Nice to see that they went back to the good old reliable front axles on these, or, maybe they have been like this all along ? I have worked on the 7000 series 4X4 trucks but I do not remember what axle they were using under the front end. The Ford 9000 series had two center carrier bearings to...

What should 4x4 with axle shafts that have U Joints rather than CV behave?

Relax, if they was odd gear ratios the truck would not move more than a few feet and it would be bound so bad it`d either come to an abrupt halt or else bust a whole bunch of real expensive items. Bumping and jumping in 4X4 when turning is normal.

SM465 fluid - i used gear lube, maybe synthetic gear lube - what now

The old four speed units all used motor oil, or so I`m a thinking. If not the Montana DOT been doing it all wrong for a lot of years. LOL I know the newer overdrive units uses some kind of a friction modified stuff to allow the synchros to properly function. Might be someone will come in and...
