My daily driver cars are my Corvettes and my Z28’s. Most of the time we take my wife’s Yukon XL Denali. I’d rather drive my cars but she said she likes to sit higher up to see everything. It’s way more comfortable than my Corvettes or Camaros but I still love to bang gears. I own over 20...
bucket, do you want me to take picture of my 81 GMC with the 10.5? It’s sitting at the storage locker because the previous owner can’t find the title. I now have to force title because he doesn’t know how to get one even though we told him how. He’s a meth head I think. The truck was his...
I am trying fix what the previous owner messed up on my 1977 Chevy K10 step side. The wiring in the engine bay is a complete mess. He has a push button hooked up to the dash to start the truck. I changed out the stee column today because he broke the old one. It now has a key that works as it...
I just buy those 5 dollar hand transfer pumps from Walmart. They work great as long as you don’t use gorilla strength like I did one time and destroyed the pump. Take your time with it and it works great. I will clean them up depending on what I used it for and reuse them but sometimes I just...
Awesome Car. I own two Second Gen Camaros. 1980 Z28 and a 1978 RS/LT with the factory Z28 running gear. I have owned over 100 Second Gen F Bodies. I still have a bunch of parts laying around for Camaros. Anyway, nice ride.
That looks pretty rusty for 41,000 miles. Not doubting you but that is pretty bad for low mileage on the truck. Do they salt up the roads in winter where you live? We dont use salt here and our trucks from the 60’s and 70’s still look like new underneath. Anyway, good luck with your truck OP.
The axle on the driver side moves all over the place. Not just the hub. It moves all around in the axle tube. Would that be a bushing or a bearing? It’s very sloppy. I was thinking since I would have it all apara, I would just put in some Moser axles or another aftermarket brand to make the axle...
I don’t think it’s rare, just odd and yes it the base line- bottom line rig. No options except tilt. But it is the HD K2500 not the 8500lb and lower. There is a blue sticker on the door that gives the GVWR. I think it said 8900lb. I put the truck in my storage locker with one of collector...
They are the original axles. The whole truck is original, right down to the factory CB radio. It has the 292 I6 and not a V8. I was told to keep the I6 292 because it is rare engine for those trucks. Not sure but I have never seen a 292 in an 1981. I have seen the 250 but not the 292. Any idea...
Hey Jeff, I might have another Short box step side in the works. The man I bought my 76 from came over to my house last Friday and said he had another one to sell me. It’s a 77 with a lift kit and factory roll bar in the bed. I looked at it on Sunday and told him I was in. Hes getting over a...
I think making one yourself would be a great option. You can have an original and make it according to your needs. That’s what I’m going to do with my Step sides.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. I was just looking in my Summit magazine to order two sets for both of my 76’s. I guess not anymore. If you find any other company who makes them 12-14” wide, please let me know. Good day, sir.
I have a 1981 GMC K2500 that I am making into the Fall Guy truck. It has the giant drum brakes in the rear. Did you guys make a video of how to swap to disc brakes on the 14 Bolt FF rear end? I would like to read the thread on it if you guys have already made one. Thanks again fellas. This is an...
I thought the Corp 10 bolt was issued in about 79? My all original 1981 GMC K2500 has the Dana 44 front and the Corp 14 Bolt rear. The entire truck is original. Only 86,000 miles but the engine needs a rebuild. It has the 292 with the SM465. What say the hive? Thanks guys in adance.
This really is the only answer. Great mileage and tons of useful power on tap. Direct bolt in with minor mods. They are cheap and easy to rebuild/maintain. Best bang for your buck.
dvdswan is correct. The air/electric sanders are used only for body prep which pretty much means stripping the body down to bare metal. You can use a DA sander for shaping body filler but a good body man will use his long board and other types of sanding blocks. 3M makes really nice long boards...
