    HELPPPP!!!

Updated this below post here 5:20 PM CST.... @NastyRay I have been doing a bunch of wiring myself, mostly done now! I had a horrible rats nest of a mess to deal with as I purchased my truck with no engine, and who knows how many people had their fingers in the wiring. Sorry, off topic here...

I cannot figure out these two wires!!! 76 GMC

@Raider L my truck has the TH400 transmission in it, with the kick down wire hooked up from the switch under the dash on the "go fast" pedal ;) As for that wire with the rubber boot, prior to my engine install I robbed that wire from my parts truck, hence the splice in it. I will probably just...

OK!! Whew, I got a bit worried there...well, my kit is already installed but I thought "ah crap, I need to know this info now just in case!" Thanks for explaining. I learned something new while at work today, now I can go home :laughing1:

I cannot figure out these two wires!!! 76 GMC

Whew, glad I am not the only one confused by some of this stuff! Mine does have the TH400 in it. It has a single wire going to the kickdown on the trans, but I do not recall if it goes through the firewall with a rubber grommet, or if through the fuse box/terminal blocks on the firewall...??

Welcome @Miguel2b from MN. VERY cool looking truck! Love the deep inset grills of the early ones. I too purchased a 6/8 drop from Switch Suspension. It all went in well for me. I have a 76 GMC 1 ton. For some pics of those pieces from switch, and how they go in, you can check out my build...

I cannot figure out these two wires!!! 76 GMC

Thanks guys! So I was partially correct, and so wrong at the same time. The engine in this truck is an Olds 455, and it has a mechanical oil gauge in the truck with a copper line. So now what do I do about that blue wire with the boot? As for the cloth wire I will get that plugged into the...

I cannot figure out these two wires!!! 76 GMC

Here is the other wire I am confused about and cannot figure out. It is a white wire with white cloth on it, which I have marked (on that blue tape) as the temp gauge wire, but now I am doubting that. As mentioned above, I cannot find this wire in those wiring diagrams. What is this wire for...

I cannot figure out these two wires!!! 76 GMC

Gents, I need some help here. I have used the electrical schematics posted here time, and time again, very helpful. However, I cannot determine what the heck these two wires are for!!! The first wire is the blue one with a rubber boot. I "thought" it was for the temp gauge....but is it really...

Auxiliary battery holder (drivers side) for my 76 GMC

Not really, I took the original one which was welded to & modified already and cut it up to make it work on the passengers side, it just wont. So I would rather just get a proper one and use it.

Auxiliary battery holder (drivers side) for my 76 GMC

Just giving a shout out to see if anyone has a diesel style battery tray they want to part with, need it for the drivers side of my 76 GMC so I don't have to run a mile of battery cable to the starter! I have an Olds engine in this truck, so the starter is on the drivers side. Thanks in...

Ohhhhh....now I see why you are toying with an engine swap! Well, GM just introduced that beautiful 632 with 1004hp on pump gas :Big Laugh:

A total power loss would also kill the radio. Not sure how the radios are wired for power (through ignition or other???), but I am wondering if it is powered through the ignition switch, would the switch cause any issues like this that it kills power to everything..??

    Frustrated 87 GMC owner!

Welcome! I thought the same thing as @AyWoSch Motors with "whats wrong with it" that you want to do an engine swap? Well, being a typical guy, nothing has to be wrong except you want more power, and a great V8 sound

Shutting down while driving after much work PLEASE AND THANK YOU

This sounds a LOT like my 96 Suburban 1 Ton 454 (yes, 1 ton, not a typical 3/4.....it was a special order for the Fire Department ;) )...anyhow I digressed there! My suburban would do that too, never left me stranded but scared the he!! out of a guy when pulling out into traffic and "poof" all...

What have you done to your square lately??

I bought these from a friend that went another route for his exhaust (he built a blown big block 41 Chevy Coupe), so I paid quite a bit less for them than listed here. They are Quick Time Performance electric cutouts, 3 inch. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qtp-qtec60

Wired up the noise makers, those are loosely installed for now as I need longer bolts (hey, if fuel is going to be this expensive, everyone will hear every penny of it being used :Big Laugh: ) "THEE" switch ;)

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Do you mean for each one, oil, clock, temp, volt? Or for the whole set?

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Bringing this back to top to try to sell it (see original post). Open to an offer on it since the gauges are mixed in years a bit! Honestly, not sure what it is worth, nor what to ask!

What have you done to your square lately??

I did a whole lot more exhaust work this weekend. I just need to brace the tail pipes (where the red ratchet straps are) and then I am almost done! I have to also put on my electric cutouts. Never used band clamps before, they worked great and cinched up very nice! I did not want to take down...
