I think I may have bent push rods--and other issues (76 GMC W/455 Olds). Crap.

@Matt69olds are you speaking of these guys, it says they are in Wisconsin..?? https://rocketracingperformance.com/ When you stated to paint the pushrods, you mean with sharpie like on the valve stem, correct? Would I mark the pushrod with something simple like using a steel 6" rule (flat...

I think I may have bent push rods--and other issues (76 GMC W/455 Olds). Crap.

Not yet, plan to tomorrow, or Thursday. I don't think the cam would be flat (man I hope not!!), as I followed the cam break in procedure from Comp Cams right to a tee...and I see no shavings, or any hint of glitter in the oil, it's still as clean as can be. I could make that meme now too, the...

I think I may have bent push rods--and other issues (76 GMC W/455 Olds). Crap.

Well Gent's, all the work into the 76 GMC dually has been worth it, but now I think I may have another unforeseen problem!! Looking for advice here, I think I am on the right path..... Not too long after firing it up for break in, this 455 just did not have the "potato" sound that it should...

    Hood not sitting flush

These big hoods can be a pain! My hood was just kinked, and it has the braces on it underneath. Good suggestions here, I am going to keep these in mind when my hood goes back on....well, if I can get the hood straight enough! It blew off my parts truck in a wicked storm last year, hit garage...

Be safe when trying to pull out a stuck vehicle-

That just sucks. Gotta be so careful, but sometimes in the moment you just don't think of crap like that. This happened locally here to a guy trying to help a stranger out of a stuck snow bank. He hooked up to the other vehicle (back to back), and the other persons receiver hitch came out...

Is the 8.1 still a dead end swap?

Wow, that is one nice Suburban!! I would trade you for my '01 3/4 ton with the 6.0 if you want to send that 8.1 out my way and you could do a 6.0 swap instead  Honestly I would like to own a Suburban like that, some of the hills we encounter with our 6.0 I tell my wife "sure wish I had...

76 GMC TH400---dipstick boot, or no??

So the 400 in my truck should have a boot?

76 GMC TH400---dipstick boot, or no??

Gents, my 76 GMC has an aftermarket (POS) chrome dipstick tube in it. It has an o-ring at the end of it. It will not fit in the trans properly, because the o-ring groove in the dipstick tube is like it should be on half of it, and very shallow on the other half making the o-ring sit out too...

    First square body

Welcome @bigchip06 !! I see you are also from MN. Where in the rust belt here in MN are you from? I am between Rochester, and Owatonna. Nice truck you have there! They are addicting. You are never "done". There is always "just one more thing" to do, right after they last "one more thing" was...

LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

Then I cut off that stem. Tack welded all 3 of them, making one tack on each roller until there were 3 tacks. Helped keep the stem cooler too so I did not melt any plastic. Had the welder turned down a bit. Roller now sits where the old one did. Will just spray some black paint on the...

LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

Well, I did what I said I was going to try and so far it worked! Ground off the head of the old one, back side is bare steel so easy to remember which way to put it back together! After punching out, I used a 9/32" drill bit, this left a snug fit for the roller to be punched into. I put a...

LMC truck has the wrong window regulator rollers....

The height of them is still different though, that would make the roller further away from the arm than the stock roller, but if it works that's good! So here is what I was thinking today as I was messing with these once again. The rollers will sit at the same height IF I drill the hole out...
