AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait to ask him more questions and find out more about the truck. I will also be asking where he got it from, and if he knows if that person bought it new....or maybe this guy did, I don't know. I also want to know how he stumbled upon my thread on the other site. I am sure it is just...

AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it was just out of the "Blue" :D that he found the thread on the other site, signed up as a member and contacted me about it. For anyone curious about the dually conversion kit mentioned, here below is the build thread and there are some pictures showing this kit. Now we do know, it was...

AWESOME news on my 76 GMC dually!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap guys, I still can't believe it. You guy’s won’t believe this; SO…..I am a member on a vintage snowmobile site, and I have also posted my dually build on that site. I get a message last night from a brand new member who asked “did your dually come from Iowa by chance, it looks like my...

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Now I see that. I compared it to the one from my truck (Below) and now you can see why I replaced it.\ Here is what it looked like in the truck (dead mice & all).

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Interesting! Do you think GM threw this together, or did someone modify it at one time? I ask because in the old sled world....we see some crazy crap from the factory. Considering the above, is it worth what I am asking or do I need to adjust? Thanks!

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Good info! I do not know my years that well for changes. My truck came with the bottom left indicator as a red brake light. The other 76 cluster I used from my parts truck has the large tachometer and the fuel gauge in the lower left now.

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Selling the gauge cluster I was going to use in my 76 GMC until I found my parts truck with a good cluster, so I am selling this one. As you can see, I have not taken it apart to clean it up. This has a mechanical oil gauge. Asking $150 OBO. I will also ship it (not sure on cost to ship?).

    Starts then stalls. Stumped.

@Squirrely Brother You got that right, he is cool and has way more knowledge than I do!! I am not sure if it is a friction modifier added or the fluid itself that has that smell?? Most things I do, I do best when I have hands on....I don't like reading a book to learn something, I like books...

    Starts then stalls. Stumped.

@Squirrely Brother I learned a LOT from my dad, and still do. He is a now retired GM mechanic of 35 years so he remembers many of these mid to late 70's trucks being on the GM dealer lot, and worked on many of them!! In fact two years back coming home from camping in Northern MN using our 2001...

    Starts then stalls. Stumped.

I assume yes to this but, have you pumped on the gas pedal when it starts dying on you? I assume you have a mechanical fuel pump due to you turning it over and seeing fuel afterwards. Have you tried an auxiliary tank? I just use a 1 gallon gas can, and a short length of snowmobile fuel line to...

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

As the title says, I am not not sure where I should go, or what style of block hugger headers to look for to use on my 455 in my 76 GMC (1-ton crew). On set I found (Sanderson) looked really nice, but they dump straight down in the center and the cross-member of the truck I feel would be in...

    Some Suburbans & Trucks

I did find a few with the 8.1 which would have been awesome, however those particular ones came with a price tag too! I got this '01 for an amazing price, and a 3 ring binder of every service it ever had. Honestly if I was a dink, I could have turned around and made around $4k on it....but I am...

    Some Suburbans & Trucks

Last is my dads 50 Ford F-1, Flathead V8, 3 on the floor. I found this truck while coming back home one year from the Back To The Fifties car show in St. Paul, MN. It was along HWY 52, so I made a quick u-turn to run back and look it over. I called my dad right away, and that night we went up to...

    Some Suburbans & Trucks

AND....the classics!!!!! This is my 51 Ford F-1 truck which is also in the process of another tear down. My dad had this truck when he was younger and drove the crap out of it. Traded it to my uncle for their mom's snowmobile (72 Cat Panther) many ages ago. FINALLY I got it back. I drove the...

    Some Suburbans & Trucks

Then there is my first love, a 99 GMC Sierra Classic, which I soon found sucks to buy parts for because of the 99 GMC classic & new body style. So when ordering parts I soon learned just to say it was a 98! Here she is all dolled up & rust free with Boyd Coddington custom wheels, stainless...

    Some Suburbans & Trucks

Here are some vehicles I used to own, some I still have. The white suburban was purchased by the Rochester, MN Fire Department. Later sold at an auction to the guy that bought it. He then wanted to sell it and I was able to get it. Brought my dad with me to look at it, he crawls under it and...

Welcome, nice truck! I will be honest, I wish I could find my dads 78 Suburban he had....but, a guy has to do what a guy has to do.

    Hey guys newb here.

Welcome from one Justin to another Justin :favorites37: You should be able to find a C10! I too like the round lights, and to go one further I like 78 and prior just due to the separate front signals from the headlight bezel. All of them are cool no matter what though! Welcome!

What have you done to your square lately??

Mine is put away for the season.....well, kind of. It is still in my shop, just pushed up against the wall now surrounded by vintage snowmobiles. I did keep the engine in its own spot so I can wrench on that this winter.

Talk me out of buying a more reliable car please!!!

Is this the 78 C20 listed in your avatar picture you are speaking about? You stated looking for a car, so here is my personal opinion: If you want a full size car, find yourself a 2000 to 2005 Chevrolet Impala. One with a 3.4 v6 will be around 28 mpg. One with a 3.8 v6 will be around 24 mpg...
