    Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge of these fenders? I'm concerned about them having the usual aftermarket/repop/worn-out die problems I've seen in the past. If these are trash is there a better option? I've been looking for some OEM fenders but in Michigan they are scarce...

    That looks like the crew cab/suburban light. On those it is a flat surface that it mounts on (right over the top of the front seatback).

    It rides better if there's a few pounds of air in the bags. I do know that next time I do this I will be going directly to bags and skip the static drop.

    I have a 454/TH400 with a 3.73 gear and I can tell you that speed is not your friend. It will pull your car no problem but it was definitely not designed for today's speeds. If you don't mind 70mph it would work ok except it would be thirsty. I drove 1900 miles with an average of 8-10mpg...

    There were a lot of conversion companies back in the day. They did exactly what you said and put interiors and stripes on them. Usually they said bonus cab instead of 3+3 on the back cab emblems because they were ordered with no back seat.

    In some of the new stuff the color is called "oyster". My plastics and headliner were labeled as oyster and match the original.

    I like it without the big white stripe and just the white cab personally. Maybe because it has the white wheels but in my mind there would be too much white and not enough red.

    Compressor overload keeps tripping

    That motor probably has a run capacitor or a start/run capacitor. I have had similar issues with my gutter machines. They would start fine and just stop or run at a reduced power (slower) and eventually wouldn't work at all.

    You could take the outside dual off to fit it on the trailer in the rear I believe. I thought the track width was the same or similar for single vs dually, it's jut the hub that sticks out on the dually?

    Didn't realize you were a Scirocco guy. I had a 1981 S for about 12 years, I loved that car. I have two regrets and that was getting rid of that car and my 1970 suburban factory big block with A/C.
